MADb Issues and Feedback

Starting a new thread specifically for any MADb related questions/issues/suggestions.

I sincerely appreciate all the support that everyone has given thus far. I know many have made suggestions or requests for additional features. Please note that I do record most of these in a list. The things that get requested the most are the ones I will focus my attention on. However, the most important things are fixing any bugs that you may encounter. So please report any issues you have here and I will get right on them. Any suggestions/requests will be added to my list.

And to respond to Phantom's request in the previous thread:
Isn't it possible to add a general search box on the main page that returns everything the database has when I enter "abc1234"?
Or am I the only one missing this feature.
I will add this to my list.

Thank you for your help!

Love the new database. Truly appreciate the undertaking and the time and work being put in. A few suggestions...

-Allow for quantity counts, i.e. allow collections to display multiples of one model.
-Add a detail slot for Countries. I.e., Delta models would show Country: United States
-The flags are awesome, but country should be written out.*
-Add a detail slot for Continents. I.e. Delta models would show North America

+1 from me on adding quantity counts to models. Especially with the added ability to split the quantities over models in collection, models in sale and wishlis models (Just in case you already own one of a model but wish for a second copy, for example)

Additionally I would like to see a print option for your collection. We're already able to export the collection data into an excel file but I would prefer to save mind as a pdf using a "print collection" option where I can then just select to convert to pdf on my device.

I'm going to +1 the option to add multiple of the same model in you collection. Aside from that, it's an AMAZING resource that I'm excited to see continue to expand.

Might be cool to link models in the database that are available online from numerous retailers or eBay, so people who liked models in collections or the new releases could purchase them

Regarding private messaging on MADb: This feature will not be added in the near-term future, due to the complexities involved. It is highly recommended that if you have models for trade/sale that you include information in your About section on how other users can reach out. You can point them to one of your social media pages where they can contact you there. If a safe and secure way to send messages on MADb can be developed, it will be added in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

will model kits ever be added to the database?
(or brands that make model kits)
Not at this time. Factory-made models have been a big-enough undertaking. From what I can tell, the number of kits is even more extensive. It may be re-visited at some point in the future, but it is not currently planned.

Thank you everyone for your support!

New features just rolled out: Multiple entries per model, and importing source/date/notes. (Note: importing cost/price is not possible at this time.) In addition, you can now edit entry details from the search page. Just click the plus/checkmark/star to show the popup where you can add multiple entrys and edit the details. The same interface is available on the model detail page. As always, please report any issues you find. I've done as much testing as I can think of, but there are always edge cases that can be missed.

If you already did an import and try to do it again to get notes, etc, then please be aware that any changes you've made to your MADb collection since your first import will revert back to the data you bring from the import. Review your list on the import page to see the differences and correct them again if necessary.

Also,
If you have submitted missing models to be added, I will get to them next week. I am still sorting through the current records and weeding out possible duplicates. Once I have completed that, I will review the submitted models. So don't worry if you see them still pending.

Ah, I thought I'd try out the import again to see if I could import notes. That worked perfectly!
Just one small thing, it has added all the models from the import to my account again as a second copy, doubling my collection size... I'm guessing that's an unintended side effect of adding the multiple entries option to the database? 😅

Oh gosh - it sure is. Geez. And how polite of you to call that a "small thing".
Okay, I think best option now is for me to clear all your entries and then re-import. You good with that?

It makes sense as there are tons of kits which have re-releases of themselves, I think there might be tens of thousands of model kits. But brands such as Dragon also made kit versions of some of their diecast releases. I was wondering if I would be able to use the "add a model" function then add one of these kits since I believe people do have some of these in their collections.

I'm loving the database so far and I appreciate all the effort you put into creating this!

Actually - I think I was able to fix it without deleting everything. However, any models that you added since the previous import were lost. Let me know if everything looks alright to you.

They will not be approved at this time. You could use the Custom feature for now, if you'd like. On your own collection page, you will see a Add Custom button at the top. These are models that will only appear in your collection, but you can track them the same as any other model with entry details.

You are welcome And I appreciate all of you for using it!

You can add us to the retailer link when you get around to it.

Beautiful, thanks! Hope I can still trace back my steps and rediscover what models are now missing from the collection that I had previously added 😂

Trying to import my collection but MADB only finds my trades list although my collection is public. Any thoughts?
