3D Design Deck Monthly improvements

Hello everyone,

I am the owner and creator of a company called 3D Design Deck. We 3D printed 1:400 and 1:200 model aircraft. I design all the models myself, and my wife and I produce them.

I want to use this thread to get opinions from the community on our new models. Every month I’ll come back here and post questions and ask for opinions on random things, and you as the collector let me know what should be improved or fixed.

I’ll also post progress on new moulds asking if something correct (first thing I plan to post)

Most issues with a model can be fixed in less than 10 minutes, so if you see anything let me know.

Thanks for the help and happy collecting!

We had some issues with our 737-200 on our tail.

Currently we are designing the DC-9 series.

is this tail good to you all?
As far as I can tell, yes. @Purpleplane what do you think?

Can we see the nose and wings also by any chance?

And did you capture the distinct seam at cabin floor level (where the upper and lower lobes of the fuselage come together in a "double bubble" configuration)?

Looks really good to me.

The fairing on top of the stabilizer. ( The thicker section on top of the tail) Should continue lower towards the end of the joint fairing for the horizontal stabilizer.

I recommend this site for lots of details on the DC-9 series.

This is a great resource! I didn't even realize the differences between the -33/-34 and the rest of the 30 series. So now 3D printing offers us the opportunity to have a true and correct rendition of each variant since it would only involve some copying and manipulation of design files rather than creating separate physical molds.

I want to encourage you to take the time to get the -10 series truly correct, with all the differences between it and the others implemented. This will be huge. It'll take the world by storm. Is there a place where we all can submit our wish lists for paint schemes?

Just want to offer you some encouragement and commend you for your willingness to engage with the collectors. I have several of your releases now. (Air Canada Express Dash 8’s in toothpaste and new livery, Air Ontario Dash 8 and Air North 732). I am very impressed with the final products, considering they are assembled and finished by hand!! Keep up the amazing work, I will continue to support your new products!

I’m designing the 30 right now. After I will modify it into the 10 the 20 and the 50

Yeah sure, it’s still in the works so it’s missing a bunch but this is what I got so far.

Cockpit windows aren’t shaped out flat yet until I can guarantee the nose shape.

Wow that’s an awesome collection. I’m happy you like them and thanks for the support. They will only keep getting better.

That looks like a series -33/34 judging by the wing to body fairing. That would be very nice to have since nobody has done a diecast mold for it. Can we see it in Ozark or TWA?

And don't forget the -40! Northwest, Ozark, and TWA all had them.

Are these modelled as one part then later separated into multiple or do you model them in multiple parts? I'm trying to design a model myself but I'm not too sure how I should go with it.

I make each piece individually as it’s easier to modify each piece when you need to make changes.

Then I go in after the aircraft is finished and modify it with part holes so the pieces actually fit together.

Yes I’ll get to those two, what scale do you collect? I’m planning on running 1:200 first as it’s more popular with older models, then 1:400 a month or two later.

Is there any major distinct differences between the Dc-9-10 and the Dc-9-30? I’ve been looking for 15 min and besides length, I can only find the addition of 1 antenna and a notch on the front of the wing.

Have you been planning on having a European retailer? I would like to buy all of your models but the shipping is just too expensive 😅
I tried with bedfordshire diecast a few times. It led nowhere. I sent to order form but never got an order. So I’m currently focusing on the USA for a couple months, then I’m going to try again with the UK earlier next year.
