Regardless of what it is, it doesn’t look good. It looks more like paint cracks that zinc rot to me, but still a very worrying sign. Considering how recent this release was, it would be very unusual if it has developed zinc rot already.
Why would GJ only release the model in December 2020?

Maybe licensing, whenever they release a new official model KE throws a fit at diecast manufacturers.

I think the term is ‘crazing’, the same as what you get on ceramics? Some Aeroclassics BOAC VC-10s had this problem on the grey paint.
Welcome. It was a shame about that, the issue affected all the BOAC variants I believe. Other releases were ok I think, I have the Negus and East African VC-10 sets and they are all fine.
