PILOT LOOKING FOR A JOB

Hi all,

Bit of a long shot with this one. I'm a pilot with all ATP-mins looking for a job of any kind. Whether it's a low time job or an airline. I've exhausted every avenue I had and all the new ones I created for over a year, resulting in 0 interviews and 0 responses from everything as low as a survey pilot all the way up to regionals.

I'd like to think I have a good rep in the community, so I wanted ask around if anyone works/worked for a company or knows someone at any company that could help me get an opportunity somewhere. Any help would be appreciated

maybe try Endeavor if you haven’t already. I know a lot about it if you haven’t any questions.
I've been applied to every application on the internet from the lowest quality jobs all the way up to airlines for 12 months with constant follow up emails. Networked with at least 50 people at all levels and nothing works. I even met a head recruiter at the hiring events that blocked me after I tried to contact. Literally nothing works

The air tours?

Seems odd that a head recruiter would block you after you tried to follow up with them. Have you tried going into other aviation-related positions, not at the airlines but at the airports?

I was just as puzzled as you are. There's just nothing any of us can do right to get into these places. Already been applying to random ramp agent jobs for over 3 years and get denied for them all the time.

Have you had your resumé reviewed? If you haven’t, I’d suggest using a resource to get it looked at.
I use the popular aviation templates online and have gotten peer review before and they say it's fine. Paying a few hundred for someone to look at my resume for 10 seconds and tell me it looks good and to just keep applying and that "I'll get 'em someday" is ludicrous.

Not CFI. I already have 1600hrs and I’m still instructing now to stay proficient as much as I can

Ok, so you do have a CFI job, that’s a good thing.

Looking back, I got extremely lucky with timing. But when I was in the middle of climbing the ladder, it did seem like I was never going to get anywhere.

Times have changed, hiring at the majors is slowing down after a solid decade of continuous hiring (minus the pause during Covid, for passenger carriers), and that trickles down all the way to CFIs. It’s just how the timing is working for you. That part is beyond your control.

Embrace your CFI job, and don’t just look at it as a means to and end. There have been times in the industry when even instructing jobs were scarce. Having a way to keep flying while getting paid, or at least without having to pay for it, is a huge plus.

Don’t get frustrated because of the recruiter that blocked your calls. I’m sure that person was getting their phone blown up with calls from a bunch of people in your same situation. It’s not personal.

In my experience I always got better results when I wasn’t trying too hard, and with the help of true friends, and not random connections that I attempted to make solely for networking purposes.

Another thing I learned is that seemingly bottom of the barrel jobs are not that easy to get. Many survey companies have rather high mins for insurance reasons, and banner towing and such usually require high performance and tailwheel experience. Not sure if you have any of those.

If you have any questions send me a PM.
