So I calculated how many points I 'lost' in the previous redemption cycle - with 6 of those 8 models listed this time as well - although with fewer points required.
235 - which is about 28pc of the total points I spent last time.
Which is quite sizable - and could have gotten me 3 more models in this round.
As a pretty large buyer of NG's, I have mixed feelings about this, as I also understand that the CRP program itself is a great way of honoring buyers too - although I must mention that by slashing redemption points required this time (up to 45 in one case), I am a bit befuddled. Did they realise belatedly that they erred the last time with their points system, leading to fewer redemptions, and thus a sign of reduced engagement (and thus bad for their business image)? We can only speculate.
Nonetheless, I did manage to redeem my points for 8 more models this time again - and overall, inspite of my misgivings on the above mentioned issue - I have no real complaints regarding the program itself.
The CRP is NG's unique way of giving back to its buyers - the collectorate - and it goes to show what other companies could have done much earlier, and why, for NG, the collectorate is still held with high regard, across the board.
Yes, NG's been slipping of late, and it has irked me as well and I hope, as much as many others do I am sure, that this will not go on for too long. There's no other large manufacturer in 1:400 that engages with the collectorate the way NG does, and with the extremely high average quality of their models - that hopefully means a win-win for all over the long term
