The new Korean

EDITED:

It's not merely minimalist - it is reductive too, and that is where the problem lies. (sorry architect speaking 😂)

Minimalist schemes, when meticulously thought through their fundamentals, can be iconic and classy - the SAS scheme from the 80s, Air Greenland's, the LH 80s scheme, JALs own cigarette butt scheme from the 80s, Indian Airlines og. All minimalist schemes. Brilliantly executed and strikingly unique.

Korean, Iberia, Aer Lingus, LH, JAL, Finnair - they're all reductive minimalist schemes - this wave of generic corporate minimalism sweeping the big Corp world - formulaic and afraid to break new ground. Non-descript. Tame. Very safe and corporate, business like.

Which is why Condor's rebrand is well, truly commendable, and a remarkable and welcome, refreshing oddity.
Did some editing ✌🏼

Laziness aside, this livery doesn’t even do its job; it’s barely distinguishable from KLM at a glance.

Concepts on the A380 and 747.
Well at least this confirms the remaining 4 748s won’t immediately be retired…

Considering NG's laser focus on current schemes... say goodbye to our hopes of them releasing A330s or 777s in the soon-to-be old scheme.
NG barely does (real) KAL heavies at all, I doubt we’ll get much beyond 8515 for the foreseeable future… Unless they decide to release the 748 as a fantasy new livery, rather than on the promised old colors 💀

Right
That's really really sad

Did some background check
This was designed by Lippincott - they also did the SWA rebrand

Definitely missed out on the stark similarities it'll make to KLM's livery

Perhaps the branding team didn't pay enough attention to that ? We'll never know

Judging from the discarded designs, they tried too hard not to copy Lufthansa that they ended up with KLM from Wish.

I saw this on Planespotters.

I must confess. This is really growing on me.
As I've mentioned before, I don't dislike it, as I still find it too reductive.

But, curiously, I prefer this and not the KLM.
The last KLM I liked was the last version of the straight blue pinstripe cheatline.
No matter how many times I tried, the wavy KLM never grew on me.

But this one does, I must admit now. Maybe its the clear messaging. And the clear graphical quality.
Perhaps the metallic paint helps. The fine lines of the renewed Taegeuk and the typeface.

And perhaps that the blue isn't dull - it really pops nicely.

I am sure it'll work better on aircraft with winglets.

That would be really sad to see NG release fantasy KAL 747-8 with this shitty new livery instead of making the current KAL 747-8 we want.

well, they now are similar to TUI, KLM, Neos, and you're still approving! 😅
hahaha i do not approve, i repeat, I DO NOT APPROVE
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I was just observing, that all their efforts aimed at emulating KNOWN ideas - so either LH / EI , KLM, UA, or TN / 6E etc.
Like that's all they knew - and as seen in those options, they focused on only the TRADITIONAL livery styles widely adopted.
There was no attempt to break out of the mould. And do something strikingly different.

As I said before, I never disliked it - and I now admit it's growing on me, acknowledging, with resignation, that this is for real and is there to stay, and that's what we have now. It is what it is.

Given a choice, I would have loved the old scheme to continue - perhaps only with the typeface refresh and the logo modification. And the red and dark blue perhaps somewhere - in the titles, or as a stripe somewhere.
