Al's airliner photo thread.

In celebration of the forthcoming NG example, I thought I'd post this shot of a Balkan Tu-154 arriving at GLA in the mid 2000's. Their pilots were not always known for their consummate professionalism, and this plucky crew has just narrowly avoided landing on the grass after an ATC intervention, which saw them touch down on the piano keys instead. Ah, those were the days. 😆

And at last the Airbus A380 has returned to Glasgow International. Large crowds turned up to greet the first arrival. And we've had the new livery show up too.

The two 'Visit Dubai' livery A380's have shown up at Glasgow this week. Here we see an arrival and departure, showing off the scale of the aircraft taking off over a farmhouse beside the runway.

Let me add a few snaps taken at my "homebase" in yesterday's evening sun. Don't want to open a new thread for these few but want to keep this thread alive. Nice pictures all!

Great shots Phantom, are these to do with the international 'Air Defender' exercise happening in Germany this week. We had a load of USAF A-10 Warthogs arrive through Prestwick last week enroute. Sadly I couldn't get over for pictures.

Thanks. Yes, the Spanish are here for Air Defender and the locals pictured were also exercise missions.
Sadly most of the action is in northern Germany. We have the Idaho A-10s at Lechfeld together with Greek F-16, but spotting is a pain there.

Maybe you get a chance for the A-10 on their way back. Not sure on their routing though.

A selection of recent civil and military movements at Prestwick (PIK) and my June visit to Kemble to see the preserved BA Negus retro 747. 😎

Great pics! It's really great to see the BA Negus Jumbo preserved, although they messed up the engine cowlings...

Very odd, given that the aircraft arrived at Kemble with full grey cowlings. Apparently BA engineers arrived later and swapped out some of the engines for end time examples. I assume they didn't bother with the effort of matching up the cowlings correctly ? I'm told they aim to paint them grey eventually.

I really hope they paint it grey in a near future! They also need to paint the cowlings of the Landor 747.

Short stopover at Munich to shoot the afternoon quads across the pond - even though spotting airliners in the baking summer sun is absolutely not my cup of tea...

Wow that's nice. Its worth being baked by the sun for these photos!

This thread is pretty quiet.
Other than some military there's not much new to post for me.
Let me post some of my older shots as a "filler" to keep Al's thread alive.

Taken in 2011 on one of my favourite places to be. Potokaki Beach on the island of Samos. Air Berlin A319 D-ABGS on a very short final for runway 27 - coming in very high so that it exactly fit into my 15mm lens without clipping anything...

I took the following photos on October 20, 2023 as my family and I were waiting for our flight back to Houston after a short scape down to Cancun.

Had not taken photos of real aircraft in a while.
