JAZ's Collection

Some pics from the cellphone:

I can’t find the engine that I thought I had messed up. Oh well…

This Avensa trio looks great! The JC Wings blank B737-300 comes in very handy when it comes to custom models. I also have one and turned into a Transbrasil version.

Indeed, especially when the fuselage is white to begin with. I still had to airbrush the engines to get the light grey tone they had on the actual aircraft. That was supposed to be the strong point of these models as I have seen a number of them on eBay, none with the engines actually painted. I think I did get the color of the engines right, and the finish is pretty decent. Unfortunately, the decal application could be slightly better on my part I believe. I also noticed that the decals themselves came with some slight imperfections. I have two more to go, so we shall see.

You know, customizing models really makes you understand why so many of them come with errors from the factories in China, it is mass-produced artisanal work! I'm surprised we don't see more errors on monthly releases actually.

Recently did a catch-up sprint with some photos that I had taken in the past two years or so, but for one reason or another, I never got a round to properly publish. Might as well use this thread for its intended purpose: content dumping!

Alitalia 767-33A ER I-DEID Aeroclassics 1:400.

An old and excellent Aeroclassics release on the BigBird 767-300 mold, I got it from a Facebook seller in 2021 or 2022. It is part of my "Maiquetía collection." While it is Alitalia's 747s what I recall seeing during my childhood, with the internet I have discovered that their 763s were also visitors during the "glory days" of the late 1990s.

Canadian Airlines International Boeing 767-375ER C-FCAB Phoenix Models.

A 2023 release this is one of those models that I probably would not have gotten if it wasn't because it presented itself for pre-order. I like the Phoenix 767-300 mold, and their overall quality. A minor complain on this model was that the cockpit windows are printed a tad too low. It is noticeable, but it does not screw up the overall appearance of the model.

While I never got to see a Canadian aircraft in real life ever in my life, I was surrounded by a fair share of their memorabilia during the 1990s. I recall their elegant livery reminded me of other airline schemes that defined that era, namely the United battleship grey and the British Airways Landor.

All Nippon Airways Fokker 27 (F27-200) JA8637 Aeroclassics.

Funny anecdote: As a non-native English speaker you can really embarrass yourself trying to say Fokker in public (true story).

I have always liked ANA, but this simple liking has grown more serious thanks to my better half, and her family, who are from the Land of the Rising Sun. This in turn has resulted in me creating some very real experiences on board of ANA aircraft, among other things, solidifying my affinity for the airline.

This model was purchased directly from Andrew Klein at the Amsterdam Airline Collectors Fair 2023. Based on my experience so far, AK seems to always have good deals at shows.

Nice little model, and I just love the Mohican livery.

And a photo with some of its Mohican sisterships in my collection:

Fun fact: all the models pictured above were bought in person. The 727 was purchased at one of the ANA Festa stores at Haneda Airport (Tokyo). The YS-11 was purchased at the ANA Festa store located at the Kansai Skyview Observation Hall (Kansai Airport, Osaka), and, as previously stated, the Fokker 27 was purchased straight from AK in Amsterdam. Pretty cool: two purchased in Japan, and the Fokker purchased in The Netherlands 🙂

Southwest Airlines 737-MAX 8s N871HK (The Herbert D. Kelleher - Desert Gold Retro) and N872CB (Colleen Barrett - Canyon Blue Retro)

I have always liked the Southwest mustard livery, and seeing one of their many special liveried Desert Gold examples (which honor the Mustard Rocket c/s) always puts a smile on my face. Plus I wanted to check out NG's MAX8 mold.

The Canyon Blue retro was just one of those "why not" purchases (the dangerous type of model purchase), as I never liked that livery all that much. It looks good in my Southwest fleet.

Avianca A320 N821AV NG Models.

I got it when released, not exactly inside my normal criteria, but at the time I thought it was really cool how Avianca was bringing back all these 1990s liveries from Northern South America, and Central America. I considered collecting all of them, but this was the first and last I got. It sits alongside my Lacsa 737-200 and 727-200 from El Avador (Aeroclassics). I much rather have an actual Lacsa A320 instead.

The A320 is fine but look at that sweet little 737-200 🥰
Speaking of Latin American carriers, I'd like to add a Copa B737-200 to my collection. Too bad the SMA model was produced using the Gemini Jets mould instead of their own mould.

There is also a Lacsa 727-200 by El Aviador. A little gem in my collection. A very sharp example for being a relatively recent Aeroclassics production.

Here is a also a recent group photo that I uploaded to yankeevictor400 but I don't recall ever sharing it here:

We need a new 732 mould soon. Had to make a couple Copa customs with the gj mould. Ended up ok though.

Parked next to it the other day.

While on a 727 mood. These two are fairly recent additions also. I recall sharing a photoshoot of the Purple Top one somewhere and also remember ranting a bit on Facebook about how the FedEx one came with its main landing gear detached from the Waffle Collection Sale. But I don't think I ever got around to sharing the duo shot.

I like the AC B737-200 mould but surely there's room for improvement. The nose gear doors look too "dented" into the fuselage.
The SMA mould looks smoother, I like it better.

Nice shot. I have both of those also.

Love the purple top. Though the only one I have a clear memory of seeing was a DC-10. At MCO.
