This thread has brought up a lot of interesting points — considering my close ties with Connor, I’m absolutely willing to support him, but I also want to provide some constructive feedback when it’s appropriate.
I personally don’t mind the use of artificial intelligence when it comes to video summaries, but it needs to be proofread before publishing since AI is not perfect. My college professors said that I should treat AI as like your worst student reporter. While great as a compliment in some ways, the content needs to be manually checked and edited. There are also a lot of ethical questions, but that’s not within the scope of what I want to say. What I will say on an ethical level though, I have not used AI for any of my videos in any way as a result. My goal is to come up with a channel-wide AI policy in the near future before I start using it often, so that it’s clear when it is used and what its purpose is.
On the topic of keywords, there’s fair points brought up on both sides. From Connor’s end, I agree with getting more people to discover your videos, but I also agree that you don’t want to mislead the audience. Since Gemini Jets is a major brand within the hobby, it’s gonna be easy to get a few extra clicks when you put that keyword in the title. I avoid using it when other brands are involved as my model airports incorporate several brands in every video, like the models, GSE, jetbridges, etc. Tags is a fair compromise and I have a list of tags I put in every video that Connor gave me a long time ago. I haven’t noticed much of a difference overall, but there are times when it does work really well.
In short, the big feedback I have is with the AI summaries — they need to be manually checked so that inaccurate data is filtered out. Keywords are fine when used correctly, and tags are a good alternative. At the end of the day though, I could give two hoots about how many views or clicks I get on my videos since I’m here for fun. If a video does well, great! If not, I won’t lose sleep over it.
