What's Better than a TAP L-1011? Two of them!

Those TAP TriStars were wonderful and used to serve my homecity, Recife, back in the days. Although I didn't see any, I wasn't born yet
I do remember seeing the A310 in these colors, though.

About the models, well... it's easy to pick the winner :)

I also don’t recall seeing the L-1011s. In fact, I can’t pinpoint any single TAP type that I saw in that livery. I just recall their logo. I didn’t live in Caracas…

There is a 747 in that livery with the flag used as a cheatline. It’s one of those random brands that used the BigBird mold back in the day called five stars. Ultra rare stuff…

Awesome article! I did get the chance to see the TAP L1011 several times in CUR. I remember seeing it parked next to the KLM DC-10. EAfter they stopped flying there I saw the A310 and A340 at CCS on my way to SJO. I also managed to get the NG model as soon as it came out. Amazing model.

I attached one of my favorite pictures of it at CUR. (Not mine btw)

That's a super nostalgic photo with the American 722 in the background. Do you know if the 722 was going to SJU or MIA? Caracas saw 747s, L-1011s, A310s and A340s in that livery. There is a super rare photo of the 74. Let me see if I can find it.

Those were MIA flights. SJU-CUR were flown by American Eagle ATRs. Infact my only flight on a 727 was on one of those AA MIA flights.

Nice article but there's no denying that Aeroclassics Tristar 500 is an abysmal mould. It's not just the wings, the fuselage is bad, nosegear is in the wrong place and too short - in fact in almost every detail it is weak.

I remember trying to convince Ak to modify these Tristars before he released them. At the time we were friendly and I was helping him. But he showed zero interest in modifying the mould. Here's a picture he sent me of the early sample:

Cool to see that photo of the sample. I wasn't collecting when all that was going on. Once I got back into it, it took a while to get up to speed on what was going on and who the hell NG was.
