Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

And I must add god I miss these experiences buying from an actual store where you can take a look at the aircraft and chat with people, so much more efficient than ordering online, even if it's about an hour drive in my case.
More fun as well, it's among my favourite experiences going to a brick and mortar store!

My NG arrivals of this month.
  • Alaska B737-800 "Salmon Pleople" livery
  • Spirit A319 standard livery
  • Southwest B737 MAX8 Heart livery

Got the NG Southwest Heart 737 Max 8 along with my first widebodies 🙂! The widebodies are actually bigger than I thought they were gonna be, but that’s good! The blue on the Southwest Max 8 looked like it was too dark under my kitchen lights, but it looked good on my phone flashlight.

Wow, haven't posted in a long while! Here are my most recent hauls within the last month after moving to The Netherlands. All were purchased from the amazing Aviation Megastore with the Mahan A340 and Saudia 787 bought from AACF a few week ago. Hopefully they can join the rest of my collection in the UAE sometime soon :)20231006_113638.jpg

N863GT. The mould is amazing with the refinement we've all come to expect from NG... But I have to dock points for the QC on this one; it came with a missing aerial. I did manage to "repair" it by cannibalizing another broken NG, but still not a good look.

Here are a few comparison shots with the JC that illustrate my primary gripes with that mould, and how NG is largely free from the same issues.

NG has smaller (more proportional) aerials and a nosegear with the correct length.

Note the NG's fan blades and wing droop, which are both more accurate to how the real thing looks on the ground.

NG has the correct lower tail leading edge and a "cleaner" APU.

NG's wing root is correctly more squared-off. Interestingly, their own 744 seems to have missed the mark here.

NG has the slats moulded in, while JC doesn't.

NG's wing leading edge flares out at the midpoint, as it should.

Yes these are individually minor details, but they all add up for a far greater sense of refinement. Excellent mould, hopefully they don't waste it on fantasies.

Ooops, did I miss discussions about this at sample stage?
Technically speaking, the 747 doesn't have any slats, but Krüger flaps, so there's no such detail to be moulded on a 747's wing leading edge upper sides.

My mistake on the terminology, and that could be an error depending on how you view it. The kruegers are segmented if you look closely... albeit in a "flush" manner.

Nono, not your fault. I think the general term is slat actually (correct me here)
But this particular design is called a Krüger flap. Krügers "flap" out and into the wing's LE underside structure. The LE oversides/noses are clean.
The structure you see in the pic are likely just sheet metal joints.

Sorry for going off topic..
A nice video showing a 727 lift device sequencing. First is the outer wing's slat, followed by mid-wing. The inner wing is a Krüger.

Here on a 747-8 (check at around 6mins into the video)
