Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

My 5th Phoenix A340-300 in the past 3 years just arrived and is as nice as the others.

It makes an interesting comparison with the old Gemini 727. I'd say the PHX wins for the more washed out yellow, white around the titles and most of the title font too. The GJ 727 has a better r of air

I hope @DTcustoms can work with PHX to release the 2 recent Surinam A343s - PZ-TCR in the standard scheme, and PZ-TCW in the lovely hybrid scheme. Add BWIA, AR, Avior, Conviasa A343s on this great mould.

Barring a few, I have picked up almost all of the recent PHX A340s. And why not?!

After three weeks of traveling, I am now finally back home. This also applies to this quartet of 1:400 models that have been in kept at my dealer for some time.

These two DC-8-50s are a couple of recent inductees to the fleet. Both are 1962 builds and carried sequential regos at Douglas (N9608Z and N9609Z). N9608Z in house colours here, and named 'Pacific Pacer', set a distance/speed record on a testflight from Tokyo to Miami (8,792 miles in 13 hours 52 minutes) on Feb 23, 1962. She went on to KLM and then leased to Philippine Airlines only two months later. N9609Z became CF-TJL with Trans-Canada Air Lines as a DC-8F Jet Trader. It flew with Air Canada until 1985. I am a massive fan of Aeroclassics DC-8s and this pair are my 111th and 112th of them in my collection.

Herpa seems to peak at their 1:400 SST offerings despite the lack of printing details. Their Concorde has a realistically sharp nose unlike GJ's one which is blunt. Also they are the only manufacturer to have a mould for the Tu-144 (not counting Del Prado since it's 1:350). And I am delighted to welcome both Mach 2. airliners:

British Airways Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde G-BOAD modified "Union Jack" scheme. To be honest, I am not quite impressed with the font for the registration as it seemed completely off to me (I have my eyes for the font). The aircraft is now at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The double-delta wing SST from the other side of the Iron Curtain - Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-144S CCCP-77107. Aimed to outpace the Concorde but was drowned with issues. Nonetheless still a beauty. A minor scratch was found on the main gear door but since I have not asked for photos - I don't file a complaint. The real aircraft is now in Kazan.

Moving back to the modern world is a pair of Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-3F2/ER TC-JJE (w/o antennas) and TC-JJP by Phoenix. I entered my bid for these 2 no-box models and they gladly came intact. Interestingly a few week before I also got a NG version of TK 77W (-JJS) and now have a total of 3, which I had not planned for.
