Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

Here is my haul from yesterday's Frankfurt Aviation Collectibles Show at Stadthalle Hofheim, a 35 mins journey with public bus from Frankfurt Airport. I was not left empty handed and enjoyed the 5 hours at the show (which I planned for only 1-2hrs). Got a chance to meet and greet with Matthijs (i am sorry for not remembering your account name here), who insisted me on joining the Amsterdam show. I would love to but due to own plans cannot in 2025 and hopefully can attend in 2026.

Starting up with my first purchase pair, which I got to diversify the number of aircraft types in my collection. Channel Airways Comet 4B G-APZM by Aeroclassics.
20241109_204333_HDR.jpg
Next up, my very first 707-derived airframe - French Air Force Boeing E-6F Sentry 36-CC with the rotating radar disk by DragonWings. The airframe is still in active service.
20241109_204913_HDR.jpg

Next up is an Aeroflot IL-18 RA-75903 by Aeroclassics. Originally this belonged to my friend but I accepted his swap request to my original IL-18 Polar division. I got some other Aeroclassic at this table for my friends.
20241109_201931_HDR.jpg

Continuing the prop theme is this United States Navy Convair C-131F 141001 by JCWings from the directly-beside table. The C-131F is a design based on the Convair 340, which in turn similar in all dimension with the improved CV-440.
20241109_204231_HDR.jpg

At the same place I also got my long-wanted older release for the Thai budget carrier - Thai AirAsia X Airbus A330-343 HS-XTA by Phoenix. The reason I did not get the A330neos which are easier to find is due to the fact these 2 frames were stored for a long time before changing their ownership to Azul. XTA stayed at the airline through turbulent time and still got the previous iteration of AirAsia livery. I also got from the same table other 2 models (MASwings F-50, Air China BAe 146-100 but would not post due to length).
20241109_210747_HDR.jpg

And at the Aeroclassic table, I had a very pleasant chat with the man himself and got myself one of my long wanted model from Aeroclassics in spite of its lack of modern features. Here is the Air Seychelles A320-251N S7-VEV by Aeroclassics.
20241109_204654_HDR.jpg

From a table which I overlooked at the beginning firstly due to their near entrance position and offerings at the beginning of day (mostly DragonWings) are these imperfect beauties, which had insufficient glue applied (and some paint damage due to the lack of glue). A chrome beauty from the USA - American Airlines Boeing 757-223 N645AA "LuxuryJet" by NG.
20241109_210135_HDR.jpg

This QR got much more paint peeled off viewing from above (*cough cough 2022 battle with Airbus) but looked just great from the side - Qatar Airways Airbus A350-941 A7-AME by NGModels. From this seller I also got a KLM Asia B77W by NG - the better of the 3 beauties and a mint Swiss Avro RJ by JetX.
20241109_212000_HDR.jpg

A sign I cannot believe in my eyes - a box with BigBird style that was still on the table, which I reached with excitement. That turned out to be a perfect polished and still stood the test of time - Korean Air Cargo B747-2B5F HL7451 by BigBird. The real frame got an unfortunate end, though. I was also surprised (again) when I asked for the price and gladly add it to my collection. I have not attached the front landing gear due to later transport. This model would rank high on my Model of the Year list and surely earn 1st rank on the "Bargain of the Year" section.
20241109_210930_HDR.jpg
Lastly, the model which I paid most for the whole show (and not exceeding my usual budget for model) is this stunning factory color McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 N1339U by Aeroclassics. When I saw it on offer, I could not say no to it. Like the 747, the front gear would stay inside its packaging for a while.
20241109_210330_HDR.jpg

So that's all for today's terribly long post. If you also took part at the FRA show, I'd love to see your acquisitions too.

Cool stuff, specially the polished Korean Air Cargo 747 and the house colors DC-10! The trijet looks great but I have to say the Patriot version looks even better to me, due to the upgraded gears.

it's great to hear your reply! Patriot's images look promising and seemed to capture the tyre size better than this DC-10. I stood still for a second or 2 before actually picking up this model, knowing that Patriot's product is coming imminent. But gradually I picked it up out of curiosity, checking out and it was a -30 series, which is different than the original -10 that Patriot will bring. Hence, it is a must.

Another new arrival for me:

Airbus A300B4-200 Varig - PP-VNE
A custom model... no prizes for guessing the custom donor 😝

I bought it from a fellow Brazilian collector who was downsizing his collection. I still needed this model and I also planned to buy a Carnival A300 as a donor anyway, so basically this purchase came in super handy.

Sadly the fuselage is slightly yellowed - maybe not so much noticeable here due to the white balance of the picture - but I'll let it pass.
This is my 5th Carnival A300. Four were used as donors for custom models and one was kept original.

IMG_3019.jpg

And here's a family pic of my A300s. 1 Carnival and 4 "Carnivals under disguise"!

IMG_3020.jpg

Aeroclassics have released some of these but they have become rare and expensive, so I ordered these as customs instead. I'm not so happy with the quality of my Cruzeiro A300, though. I once fought on an auction on Ebay for the original AC release but the price went too steep and I had to let it go.

Another new arrival has come, this one being from Panda Models. I welcome the first Russian aircraft to my collection, Panda Models Tu-134 in the Aviogenex scheme. I am truly impressed by the amount of detail that Panda put into this tiny little model. Had my eye on this for a while but seeing it on sale made me realize it was now or never for this model.

20241111_220741.jpg
Lovely little model and mould. It also fills a gap in my collection that I never expected to fill, a Yugoslavian aircraft.

I love this little Russian aircraft, I hope I can see Panda release this in the colors of SyrianAir one day, I would love to add that to my collection as well

You did not disappoint there buddy!

But you are right. Can you imagine Varig and Viasa DC-10s by Patriot???

Great haul and great post as always Quang. I had planned to attend a European show around this time and I was off during the days the Frankfurt show was happening, but I recently decided to invest my resources in other endeavors in the hobby, so I had to stay at home this time. Because of that, it is also unlikely that I will be in AMS this coming February. Hopefully, 2026 will be better for going to some shows, it is always a blast. I would love to meet you in one of the shows one day.

Catching up with some arrivals from the last few months:

Phoenix continuing to please...

What's more 1990s than a livery with a cheatline and an internet advertisement at the same time??
DSC_3853.jpgDSC_3848.jpg

I noticed a small protuberance in one of the top beacons of this A343. I had not noticed that on previous PHX A340s. Looks quite refined though.
DSC_3876.jpgDSC_3878.jpg

And I just couldn't resist a JCW 744 in a classic 1980s livery. Again, what screams more 1990s than an airplane with an EFIS cockpit, no Flight Engineer position, but wearing a crimson cheatline at the same time? 😅

DSC_3875.jpgDSC_3871.jpg

Shout out to @danwashere from www.westcoastdiecast.ca

Obviously, I am slowing down on new arrivals from retailers. But these orders were placed before I decided to "cross the line." To that end, I have a little gem that I had been chasing for a while on the way from @squatchys_diecast_hangar. I'll be posting pictures here soon.

Lovely set of classy A300s. Your A300s made me thinking of adding one of these in classic scheme into my collection. I understand that these A300 made by AC usually not end up on online site as a bargain but cost an arm and a leg (also applies to my place where I argue I saw some acceptable deals). I might cast my luck eventually.

Thank you so much for your compliment! I also hoped you’d make a surprise appearance at the show which I could meet you. I will not also be at the AMS show for 2025 according to my plan, but 2026 is a must (and also to visit the city).

I wish you best of luck with your new enterprise and hopefully we could see each other in person at a show in Europe in the future!

Btw: nice PHX arrivals you got there. I have not unpacked my recent PHX release yet and would not do so until at least Jan next year.

Lovely little model and mould. It also fills a gap in my collection that I never expected to fill, a Yugoslavian aircraft.

I would say the Tu-134 is Panda’s staple. PM does great with the detailings and I consider it to really worth the asking price.

Awesome one! Panda did a great job with these Tu-134s. Aviogenex livery looks great on it. Makes it look more Western and less Soviet lol

Oh my... these two would look really stunning!
Nice arrivals too! JC did a great job releasing that Air Canada 747!

Thank you! :D
Sadly the AC versions are too expensive for me. I still hope to get the Cruzeiro A300, though! I managed to get the 727 and 737, now I need the bigger brother :)

Absolutely, such a fine and unique mould. The aerials in particular are very impressive shape wise. It makes me want to start a fleet collection of Tu-134's, although there just isn't that many Tu-134's that fit into my collectors criteria. A shame.

Awesome one! Panda did a great job with these Tu-134s. Aviogenex livery looks great on it. Makes it look more Western and less Soviet lol

Yes now that you point that out, the scheme does look a bit Western. Thank you, that comparison makes this model a lot more interesting as it reflects the political considerations of Yugoslavia during the time. The balancing act between the West and the East that Yugoslavia managed during the Cold War was always something I found really interesting so seeing it reflected on the model isnt surprising but still very cool.

Some more new arrivals.

All very special.

World Air Network 767-300 by Hogan. I have a nice collection of ANA Official OPrecision Models (Hogan/Herpa), but all have been either given to me, or I have bought them new in Japan. This is the first one that I have had to source through eBay, and had been chasing down for a while (more to come on YV400 in the near future...)

DSC_3864.jpg

LAB 763 by Phoenix... I guess some of you saw the Instagram reel. It's LAB, so... no brainer.

DSC_3844.jpg

This one is also super special. Only a year ago, I was chasing down an Iberia A346 on the seconds market. Out of the blue I asked DT, "hey, any chance Phoenix could re-release an Iberia A346?" "Let me look into it, which reg?" "EC-IQR Salvador Dalí would be nice"

...

DSC_3858.jpg

It was beyond me that we had a really nice example in 1:500 by StarJets, but crickets in 1:400 for decades. Finally AC did what they do best...

DSC_3865.jpg

All of these models came from Vancouver. PH from West Coast Diecast, and AC from North Pacific Diecast. @danwashere @Air India Collector Thanks. The Hogan ANA 76 came from Japan via eBay.
