NG Models 747-8

I found three minor issues with the wing control surfaces, one fairly major issue on the tail, and one more on the overall nose shape. If I'm not mistaken they were able to resolve all of these issues before beginning production.

Then this is what they sent me in response (first two images), and they posted new prototypes for the wings as well (last image).

I find it pretty odd that NG was so determined to fix the flaps being a millimeter off, which I assume was quite a heavy change on their end as they would've had to tweak not one but two moulds for such a small mistake. Yet they do not want to budge when it comes to updating the overwing exit markings on their A320/321s.

Can confirm that the wing and vertical stab issues were fixed. Not too sure on the nose curve, but it looks fine to me.

The email from NG this week was encouraging, so hope we see some updated diagrams or samples soon.

Here's what the Corsair SP's tweaked cockpit windows would look like on the -8 sample. Looks much better even with the same forehead.

Pics of the updated mould are coming late May or early June, per NG.
The artwork however still shows no sign of update concerning the cockpit/upperdeck. It still shows the upperdeck with a straight roof all the way to just aft of the cockpit.
The 747 upperdeck should have its tallest point at the end of section 41 (frame 520), that's above the 1st and 2nd window aft of the L/R1 doors. The SUD runs straight from there while the "classics" UD continues further down again in a smooth curve.

At least the cockpit windows look to be correctly elongated, compared to the stubby ones on the SP and sample. But yes, the forehead is still off. Wouldn't two and a half months be enough time to tweak the original CAD file and machine a new mould?

I just arrived from Airliners, I hung out most of my time there at the WCD/NG table and the samples there didn't have any improvements over what we saw initially. The forehead is actually quite bad on both of them, as you will find out unless it gets fixed before the first releases.

I spent a lot of time looking at them, but unfortunately this is the only passable picture I took.

Finally found a photo of the bottom side of the wing and to no surprise it has the same issues as it did before. It may as well be that NG simply did the modifications digitally and hasn't created a new sample to bring it to Airliners, which is what I'm hoping for but again unlikely.

They're certainly taking their time to release the first 748s, but at this point I'm not quite sure if they're doing so to improve their moulds or there are some other reasons we don't know about.

Maybe they are getting a laugh out of everyone else rushing to get their 747s released before NG's 747 arrives.
