NG Model 1:400 October 2025 Release Hint

I think it kind of made the demand greater. It shows that NG acknowledges and recognizes Frontier. In my thinking, if they can make an A318, they can make the rest of the fleet. I can’t be the only one who thinks that way right?

I agree for sure. But the only certainty with NG is uncertainty, so we'll see.

My annoyance is for the Tropical 747 - why almost everyone with 744 mould all decided that making one at this time is a good idea😐😐

We have HX and APOLLO all shipped out their's to stores just few months ago while JC just had their's completed and ready for shipping - and now NG decided that they should too...
Why is actually very clear. Tropicals, along with other 747s, were some of the first approved models on NG's CRP - now almost a year ago.
Other companies - JC, HX, Apollo - took this as a sign of demand, and they've actually copied the approved CRP's on NG's wishlist, in a way.
It's just a business move to cash in on the market - just like Av400s A380s launched a release boom from JC and PHX.

So it's not NG 'now deciding' - it was always in their production pipeline. Other manufacturers have of course jumped queue - so I'd say that it's the other manufacturers who had these moulds ready all along - being absolutely uncaring for the collectorate, and being opportunistic

Meanwhile the standard SQ 744 is sitting at a whopping 3 votes 🙃

That, plus an A333 or 773 are much more unique and necessary releases in 2025. Shame 2000s stuff is too old for most people today to care about, while also not being old enough to be considered “iconic” yet.

It is the main reason why Boeing and Airbus stopped naming variants rationally. You can thank the Chinese for the A380-800, 737 MAXs starting at 8, A330neo starting at 800, A350s starting at 800 (although that variant was canned), 747-8, 777-8 etc etc

On the plus side it helped me sell my house in NZ once as the buyers were a young Chinese couple and we lived at no 8! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
No wonder why the China Olympics in 2008 started on August 8 (2008-08-08).

The problem is brands like NG thinking the major part of collectors want special liveries more than regular liveries which is wrong! Very few people are interested in these special colors (unless this is Skyteam StarAlliance, Oneworld or something like CPA Asia World city, KLM orange pride, which are still less popular than regular…)

Barely any standard ANA out there

I have to say special schemes seem to sell very well. If they didn't they wouldn't get made so much.

Having said that I tend to agree - I prefer standard schemes myself. At the same time a lot of the Chinese specials are really nice. Western special schemes often not so much.

Oh you have no idea.....
specials sell out in a jiffy.... Across the world. Trust me on this, as I'd delayed picking up the recent ANA 787 Pokémon & 777 Demon Slayer, the Cebu Manila, and the Alaska salmon people..... For instance... I had to scour all the online stores I could before I finally found them in obscure places

So yeah, specials sell very well - folks want them, and they're great to have in a collection

It's a separate discussion that enough regular schemes aren't made. Those should be made as well of course

took me nearly a month to find that Orange Pride at a good price when I had the chance, it's 100% selling faster than the regulars.

I didn’t say they don’t sell well. I said , in most cases, standard are more popular. Doesn’t mean special shouldn’t be made (I even collect specials myself). I mean that, in most cases, standard should be a priority! The problem is often brands only releasing a special livery without considering it’s regular version (NG and ANA or NG and Alaska B39M for exemple)

NG hasn't done any Alaska special liveries for any of the MAXs. Both 8 and 9 have been approved and NG has done everything else but the regular -900 and the A319 in their current livery.

I don’t think it’s been mentioned on this thread but NG releasing so many Xiamen Air models this month has to do with the fact that they’re now the official model manufacturer for Xiamen, and models produced for them are sold under the “XiamenAir Life” brand. (But obviously NG distributes them as well)

It seems that Xiamen Air is ordering them in bulk, as both the 1:200 737s and 757s made for Xiamen came with multiple releases under either the same batch or in quick succession (different liveries used throughout the airline’s history, with 11 737s released in 1:200 scale between May and August alone). It’s therefore no surprise to see them do the same in 1:400 scale also.

I’ve seen NG replying to comments on RedNote a while back saying that they’ll (re)release Xiamen 757s (both classic and current liveries) and 787s (the UN Sustainable Development Goals livery in particular) in 1:400 scale in the near future.

But regardless, this doesn’t justify the fact that the rest of this month’s release is very lacking in terms of international diversity. Looks like NG is playing it safe and maximising revenue by catering to its core markets.

Seems like all manufacturers are behaving as if they’re in survival mode as we all know why…
