It is nearly 20 years since the release of this model and today I would like to share some pics of this lovely model. I acquired it during the last November and it is surely my purchase of the year 2024 (I cannot decide by now which model should be MOTY 2024). The chrome fuselage stood the test of time and still mirrors well. This is one of the last 747 released by BigBird Mk.1 and it is not as popular as the legacy passenger airliners released during the earlier years. Nonetheless for me it is such a wonderful model that I did not imagine to own one. The first part features the traditional photos of various angles of the model.

Starting with a starboard side view from the above.

This concludes the first part of this photoshoot. The second part includes more "artistic" photos.

The chrome fuselage is paired with the logo from KAL previous red and white scheme. The real machine dedicated its whole life at Korean Air Cargo before the tragic accident in the end of 1990s when it crashed after takeoff from London Luton enroute to Milan Malpensa due to pilot error. The flight originated from Seoul Gimpo with a stop at Tashkent before continuing to Milan via London (routing was GMP-TAS-STN-MXP). Crash airframes tend to be avoided and when manufactured, faced various against and supports. The part 2 continues with 3 so-called " artistic" photos.

A shot against the rising sun - my favorite photo type. It was quite cloudy when I took these photos so I was a bit lucky to capture this

On the starboard side with Vietnam's tallest building - Landmark 81.

And finally, a close-up shot at the nose to clearly see the reflected wings. That looks just amazing. Btw I felt that the nose gear could not be held firmly in the slot - unlike my DC-10. Some dash of glue would help but i decided to keep the nose gear separate inside of its box - the nose gear was not opened before.

Despite being good, this BB mould already shows the age. But still, a wonderful model for sure... shining like it's brand new!
I agree. We can just hope that NG would ultimately fix the nose of the 747 Classic. And for HX/YY, their recent 1:400 releases did not suggest for the application of other airlines rather than China (HX made KE 748 before but it was an order from the Malaysian store). For me it is interesting to see who brings the CX Lettuce Sandwich 742 into the market first.

Let's hope that this chrome model still shine for years to come!

Chrome looks great, thanks for sharing.

I didn’t know that, no wonder they still have it in stock even after 50+ have been sold. Why NG never touches KAL 748s is beyond me.
You’re welcome!

Btw the KAL B748 made by HX are branded as “MachBirdz” - MHH exclusive brand. On the shop website it is categorized as HX but the product code is “MBHX…” anyways. MHH has enough HX KAL for many collectors who hasn’t got one - judging by the sale of it. And it is also surprising that the shop has JC KAL 748 on offer too, but that did not sold well.

Well, for NG I would say that as of recent they would keep the best for the last. I would be so surprised if they released all wished model this year. (And i’ll be broke by then).

I look forward to seeing your review of the HX KE B748 when you receive it.
