Yu ModeL New Airbus A300 First Look

Yes. Phantom implied in an earlier comment that classics A300s had ailerons close to the wing tips. The -600s didn’t. The issue is when -600 overwing markings are printed on the wings of classics A300s. This offense effectively covers the outboard ailerons with corogard, which is serious. Of...

Yu ModeL New Airbus A300 First Look

Mind you, Alex, I am not sure that even the majority of A300 pilots who have flown both variants are aware of how the overwing markings change as a result of the disappearance of the outboard ailerons. I also understand - quite well, actually - that pilots are far from being the main target...

Yu ModeL New Airbus A300 First Look

I did bring this up to YU, and they were very receptive and seemed to understand the issue. It is not easy to convey a technical issue in a third language, though I think he got it. I doubt the Pan Am and Niuguini examples will be modified, but I am hopeful going forward.

CX is taking legal action against brands that are releasing the unlicensed 80th livery models

If I had to guess, I’d say that Cathay isn't opposed to the models that are being made without license per se, or concerned about losing revenue. I think they just don’t like the fact that their intellectual property is being used without consent. They feel disrespected. And frankly, they...

Show your FAVORITE 1:400 model aircraft.

Hi Tom, didn’t I get two of those 707s from you? Or you had duplicates. I know you kept the standard 1980s livery and the bare metal one.

The Frequent Flier: Emirates Airline in 1:400 Scale

Emirates is not any airline, they are massive, and they offer a pretty solid product. I can’t think of any airline of such caliber with only 40 years of history. The don’t fit my nostalgia-fueled collection because of that. It is true that they had an interesting fleet when they were young...

    Aviation400 - An Overview

It is, it's got the blended winglets, those were delivered with LEDs. The older E-170s and -175s with the straight-up winglets did not. Although some got retrofitted with the blended winglets. I am almost sure all of SkyWest's E-175s came with LEDs.

    Aviation400 - An Overview

I don't care too much either. I think the praise those little pieces of translucent plastic get can be too much, and that annoys me a bit, but we know what they say about opinions. Hey, I am someone who proudly displays Phoenix 747s if they wear my favorite liveries, and I would do the same...

    Aviation400 - An Overview

This is actually a good example. My Gemini200 E-170s have red jewels, and this is correct for those airframes. However, the newer E-175 in your photo is equipped with LEDs in real life.

    Aviation400 - An Overview

LED beacons don't have the bright red cap of "normal" anti-collision lights. On the 787, the top and bottom anti-collision lights (AKA rotating beacons) only look red when lit. When not flashing they are an unsuspecting dark spot. Photo from Reddit: I'm not home now, but looking at...

    Aviation400 - An Overview

Thanks… To be fair, the longer flicker on the LED beacons has made beacon shots super easy to get, so diorama spotters could benefit from the permanently on LED beacons of AV400.

    Aviation400 - An Overview

I have heard that the supplier of the current AV400 is the same as the old one. I would not know.

As a person new to collecting, is JetCollector the best there is?

He has come down on some of the least popular models. He’s also getting IF from a distributor, so he’s got those at market price.
