Our (my son and I together) first 1/400th purchase I believe was this Gemini Jets Delta L-1011 N740DA, March 1999.
What is the first 1:400 scale model aircraft you got?

Exactly, have seen a few operational military variants but only that CAC civilian. Lots of DC-8s though. I remember seeing a bunch of Fine Air at MIA (custom coming soon).

Oh yeah, Finnair at MIA, and they were also regulars at MAR. At MIA, there was the original Kalitta as well (American International Airways).

My first ever 1:400 model was this Lufthansa B747-400 D-ABVF (Dragon Wings). Flying home from Hong Kong on a LH 747, I bought this for my son at a toy store at the airport. That was in 2000. He didn't like it but obviously I did. And 500 models later, the rest is history.

It was 2012. A China Southern A380 by Dragon Wings. No registration, as it was released prior to CZ’s first A380 delivery in 2011. Bought it by mistake, as I previously had already collected two 1:200 models (a Lufthansa/Condor hybrid 737-200 by JC and a Dragon Air Cargo B747-200F by Hogan).
I wasn’t aware of the difference in scales at the time and was genuinely surprised by how small it was. My 1:200 737’s fuselage was just as wide, if not wider than that A380. I switched to collecting 1:400 models after seeing how cheaper they are and the more variety that’s available in 1:400.

What a nice walk down memory lane. 
Among my first airplane models ever were a Schabak Boeing 747 Swissair and a Royal Jordanian 747. I even had some Schuco models before that (Condor 707 and Lufthansa DC-10).
