Some new AV400 arrived...

First up one a livery that was long sought for - Air Canada B777-300ER C-FIVS "Vancouver 2010"

Then come the A340-300 pair:

SWISS HB-JMJ "San Francisco"

Cathay Pacific B-HXG "Oneworld"

Generally good models until you get some other models side by side and realised the artwork team seems to drink a liitle too much...

Swiss - with Phoenix standard HB-JMH - Notice how dark the red is...

My annoyance is that AV400 did manage to get a lighter color few years back when they release SWISS 77Ws - which look much more accurate!

Cathay - with Phoenix standard B-HXO

Proportion of the brushwing is the crucial part that determine the overall execution of the livery - and somehow AV400 failed spectacularly - too narrow and throws off the balance...

Finally AC "toothpaste" with you guessed it - Phoenix standard "tooshpaste" 77W C-FNNW

My concern lies on the shade of green that AV400 picked for the base - looked a bit too deep as AC "Toothpaste" goes - but hey, at least the tail details looked somewhat better than the older PHX...

In short - Hey AV400, please get a grip with your color choice!

Two arrivals for me today - both are Boeings by NGModels.

A classic B757 from UK operator - Britannia Airways B757-2TY G-BYAM. A model that I have thought i couldn’t be able to add due to the long release time. JC Wings version can still be obtained easily on the market but the mould kept me from getting it.

Also a model released pre-COVID by NG - when the brand catered a variety of airlines. The vibrant orange & blue ULCC from Minnesota - SunCountry Airlines B737-83N/WL N830SY. My 2nd SY to be exact - the other one is the 737 without winglet.

Btw props to HX for capturing the difference on two generations of China Airlines "Plum blossom" - which is represented by the two models
("Jimmy Liao" the late 2010 version - "Boeing" the early 1995 version)

Should mention that HX do extend the difference into packaging with slight font variations on the box of the models. ( Something Phoenix had notoriously messed up for a while)

I must say, it looks really beautiful, especially the B-18210. The tail fin is even better than I imagined..... So HX, why did you take the product photos showing the tail fin almost red?:cautious:

These are lovely. I wonder if HX will release a China Airlines 747-400 in regular livery aswell?

The comparison between JC and HX makes me want to avoid JC for life... it looks so off.

A little trio today, all T tails and airlines I surprisingly don’t have yet!

IMG_5502.jpeg

First is a ValuJet DC-9-30 by Phoenix released in 2004.

IMG_5500.jpeg
IMG_5501.jpeg

Next is a Northwest DC-9-10 released by Aeroclassics in 2001. This mould is very dated but it’s a cool aircraft none the less…my first of hopefully many DC-9-10s!

IMG_5498.jpeg
IMG_5499.jpeg

And lastly is a Northwest 727-100 released by SMA/Aeroclassics in 2003.

For sure... Now that I have an HX to compare to my JCs, the differences become quite clear. There seems to be more parity with the NG 748 nose, but I do not have a 400 by NG, yet. Quite honestly, may never, if HX maintains this level of accuracy and quality.

Now the hope is that HX diversify their subjects beyond Asia, unlike their immediate competitors. They seem to be keen on doing just that as their imminent Delta 744 is close to be released.

I totally understand as the nearest store to me in Detroit Michigan is either in Chicago or Dayton Ohio which is 3 to 4 hours one way via car... I'm hoping to go to the Chicago fair in November and may take a look at this one in person, but that opportunity is few and far between.
The main store in Chicago is Grayland Station, but a collector also set one up in Worth (Flyman Models). He has been quiet for a while.
