Phoenix Models April 2025 release hints

They have. Looks like a "standard" mica finish on the real thing. The scattered reflections give it away.
This is one of the reference photos that PH used, perhaps why they didn't add the metallic effect on because it's nearly impossible to see1000034197.jpg

This is perhaps not the correct reference photo for them to base it upon as @Phantom has indicated - as mica / metallic paints need to be ascertained from multiple angles of view - towards and against the light, you know.

While NG sleeps, others cook! It looks beautiful. Will be great next to the Swissair chocolate on a 1990s European diorama 🥹
It's definitely way way better than the GJ/JC.
The nose/cockpit region especially and the landing gear heights are great, seams are still large, but it's definitely competitive for the price point and worth considering for the subjects they're putting out. This one definitely now edges out the GJ/JC
As you rightly said - NG's been sleeping on their MD-80s

Yes, indeed! That nose gear position on the Gemini MD-80 always puts me off...
This Phoenix version could have a more nose down attitude (longer main gears needed) but still looks great to me. Not NG, but still good.

I agree with all. I will add that the engines are better proportioned too. And more importantly, these exist.

I am pleasantly surprised by this mold from what I can see.. The nose section isn't half bad and overall does look to be better than JC/GJ.

Verry happy to see this with new landing gear and fitted with antennas.

I would like to add that Pheonix wisely added the top and bottom antennas forward of the wings... In my opinion having both really complements the forward section of the fuselage and makes the overall model look more symmetrical. It drives me crazy that GJ has decided to only put one antenna on their MD-80's on top of the fuselage. It makes the model look half-baked and lazy. If you're going to do any antennas on the MD series, you either need to do them all or none at all.

Now if Phoenix could improve how the wing fits to the fuselage on their 330s - it would be even more gorgeous!
Yes. I'm glad that PHX has rectified the A332 landing gear issues - the A300-340 family's peculiar hot-rod like landing gear poise is one of its distinctive features (barring the A310 which sits tail down) . .
I am waiting for the updated PHX A333 - but I'm seeing the landing gear issues affect the A340s as well. The recent A340s sit quite 'flat' - and that needs to be rectified.
