NG Model 1:400 June 2025 Release Hints

Another thing I don’t understand is how they can release the same aircraft type within the release set with various printing (e.g. the Korean A350 cockpit printing in the last release set). If they take pride as a leader in the hobby, they need to revisit the drawing board and ask themselves WHY they decided to become a company in the first place (besides profit, that answer should be obvious -- the community). In terms of change in response to feedback, the only thing they’ve implemented was shrinking their release sets from 40 models to half the size. One would expect them to diversify their models and improve QC, right? Nope, it’s still the same boring pattern. They’re always welcome to continue doing as they’re doing now and cater to their niche, but for me personally, I no longer buy NG as much.
At this point I just buy NG for their free models in the future

Outside of the Tristars and Mad Dogs this is going to be an awful release. Everything is either from China, Korea, the US, or Taiwan. Hopefully they decide to slip in a couple extra models outside of these countries because the backlash they’re getting on social media is immense.

I get the case of Chinese models selling well for NG, especially on home turf, but the imbalance between Chinese releases to everything else in the west has gotten out of control. I wouldn’t mind a deluge of them if it meant we still got a healthy balance of models from other continents like it was in 2022 or so.
It's unfortunate but I'm happy to see the backlash because its warranted... They need to be put on notice that things need to change as I don't buy the notion that they can almost exclusively focus on the Chinese / Asia market and continue as they are. At least we got a 1:200 A321 series mold that we shouldn't even be excited for because all their other new molds mind as well be fairy dust.

In my opinion there were three things that made them revolutionary.

1. They were the new kid on the block putting out groundbreaking molds / quality that was breaking the vice grip that Gemini had on the market forcing much needed competition with humble beginnings.

2. They were willing to create releases that no other manufacturer wanted to touch in fear of devaluing their older releases on the secondhand market creating accessibility to new collectors and old collectors alike.

3. They actively engaged with the community and seemed to hear and take the criticism coming toward them in a constructive manner in a way the collectorate had never gotten. If you dared to criticize AC or Gemini, you were written off or blocked on social medias.

From a business perspective, this is pretty basic stuff but nothing like anyone else was producing for the customer experience. They were pushing the boundaries for customer loyalty and not afraid to take risks. Now everything just seems sloppy, misguided and almost feels like a deliberate attempt to isolate the customers that made them what they are.

LOL and we've been catfished before by a new mould release which looked great as a blank but somehow missed the mark by a longshot when released with a livery (e.g. the 777 and 767). Right off the bat, the raccoon mask is way too small.

Although I must say, their 1:200 release sets have been slightly better than their 1:400 release sets (at least as an American collector). That's only because they release the occasional one or two models that are highly sought after on a superior mould to Gemini's. Who doesn't like an accurate 1:200 model on their shelf? I'm hoping one of their upcoming 1:200s is a Delta 752.

I agree their 1:200 has been better, but their mold catalog is still so small it's almost too niche to criticize in a significant way.

I am still waiting for the "Year of Classics", The city of Everett Boeing 747-100 (Non-lite) that was supposed to release last October, Airbus A340 mold series and so on... I don't mean to sound harsh, but at what point as the consumer are you being lied to and mislead?

Could not have stated it better. Lots of the models they were releasing were never released before, or if they had been, NG's mould blew the previous version away. There are SO many staples that NG hasn't touched from all over the globe, both retro and modern, yet they decide to release a repeat of the same airplane if it gets a new sticker, or 4-5 of the exact same plane with different regs. It absolutely doesn't make any sense.

There is no point. Unfortunately, some people will continue to excuse NG's business model and international retailers will continue to order their products so as not to limit their customers' selection. I think it would honestly take a boycott for NG to change their ways (hit them where it hurts the most...their profit margin/wallet), but that won't happen so easily either. If anything, this just gives other newer or existing companies a chance to claim or reclaim a spot on the top.

Your post reminded me of that time NG released the long sought-after, voted and approved Qantas special livery....as a lite. :ROFLMAO:

If a different manufacturer comes in and does it better than NG, then so be it.

Yeah, that was pretty shallow of them to do considering their 787 line-up is the best on the market.

They could have also re-released it as a regular, non-lite model but they said nope! Let’s instead re-release another 3 models of a model we had already released 5 versions of!

It was kind of insulting considering people spent their loyalty points for it... It would have made the most sense to release the collector requested standard release and then do a lite release in the normal monthly announcements... But hey what do I know? 2+2=8

I mean I hear all the complaints and understand their validity but I for one am at least happy to see the tristars and mad dogs return, that’s a turn (however small) in the right direction.
If one of the tristars is indeed the Northrop Stargazer, that would be a huge win. The old jet-x version is basically impossible to get these days

An accidental turn in a different direction that happened to suit your taste. I don't buy for one second that NG thought of their collectors when they decided to add a few mad dogs and tristars to this month's release set. They probably reached for the Tristar mould because it was collecting dust and they needed to perform maintenance on it, and the mad dogs because why the hell not?

Collectors want to see deliberate, intentional change.

One model potentially suits my taste. Just trying to see a silver lining here, that’s all. I mean maybe you’re right but that’s all speculation. I agree that’s the way it seems and that’s been the trend though.

KE 777F and 772 do make more sense than OZ, both have a ton of votes on NG’s website. But wouldn’t they say 777F if that was the case?
The 777-300 B-16*** is an ER and not listed that way.

The 200 and the F share the same body.

Previous ones listed under A320/A321 included neos.

Sometimes it is more detailed, sometimes not, it's not consistent.

It has been a hot minute since the last -200
