New Database Website

Has anybody had any issues signing into MADb? I'm trying to use the "forgot my password" link provided in the email and a server error comes up and not accepting my password change.

Hey all, does anyone know if there is an easy way/overview to see all custom models that have been entered into the database, without hopping from one persons account to the next?

I understand that there isn't a way to search customs. And they aren't "included" per se in the existing models database. My logic is that they should. They are models of an airplane and they exist. Making customs is part of the hobby, a small part, but it is.

I disagree. The database should be officially made models - a source of truth for model airliners. I'm fine with customs being available in it, but NOT in the same place as real models people can actually acquire. A separate custom area maybe - but fundamentally custom airliners are one-offs and the db isn't an art gallery it is a trusted resource of truth. So yeah customs are ok but not among the standard models for me.

I agree they shouldn't be integrated into officially made models. And while I agree that customs are one offs and, this is not an art gallery in the sense that you place them, but all models are works of art if you think about it there should be a way to atleast search for an airline and everything to show up. But have the option to filter out customs. My point being is that most customs are made because they have never been made officially. Atleast the ones I make, i'm not a fan of fantasy models.

But again, the fact is that the models exist in one form or another. Yes, not an art gallery, but besides a a trustworthy source, it's nice to simply go through existing models.

This would be better suited in a social media file share so anyone that is interested can search for customs that come to mind like MAF. I agree that this has no place in an official database as it waters down the usefulness of the tool that is MADb with unnecessary content.

Custom models are already a part of MADb though, they have been included since launch.

All I asked for is if someone knew a way to browse through the customs people have uploaded there without having to visit every account separately.

A feature like that does not have to impact the database function of MADb in any way.

@jaymaddog

Hi Jay, may I ask why it is not possible for me to add an asking price for models for sale? Anytime I try I get the error code EE32.

Thank you in advance.

Hi airbeluga,

Earlier this year, we implemented a limit on how many models you can list for sale. (The limit is waived for Premium members, and those that have/maintain at least Silver Contribution Status) Anyone that already had over the limit were grandfathered in and allowed to keep those listed. However, it does prevent adding more for sale, and making any changes to the for-sale entry, such as asking price.

At this point, you have a few options to be able to enter the asking price:
1. Reduce the number of models you have to the limit (currently set at 5)
2. Become a Silver Contributor (requires 30 accepted corrections in the last 30 days)
3. Subscribe to MADb Premium

Thank you for your fast reply. I knew that I am limited in the number of sales as a regular member but I did not expect to be limited in adding an asking price because every ebay sale is visible with a price and these auctions/sales have no connections to your database.

Anyway, thanks again for your explanation. I will see if I can find some time to contribute come corrections or to become a premium member.

Have a great sunday.

Paolo
