I've a very different view on prices it seems.
If someone really delivers that "meticolously researched,... 100% accurate" model I'd well be prepared to pay those 20-30% extra - or more pending on subject - and would be in full support for such venture.
However LegacyJets has yet to show any prove whether all the self-laudation holds any truth. I wish them all the best but am full of doubts to be honest.
Yeah all this is pretty simple:
If they turn out nice - they’re worth $55 (to me at least)
If they turn out on par with Gemini - they’re probably not.
Time will tell, everyone hold your horses and go buy something else in the mean time.
Correct,
We have a predominantly younger crowd here at MAF, so resistance to higher prices is normal and expected.
I myself got priced out of the hobby once before. It was not until my third year at an airline that I felt confident enough (financially) to get back in the hobby full-time. With age, collectors stop looking at the price tag and start looking at the actual product. I see this as a collector myself and as a retailer. Make something good, and people with the means will buy it at a premium; make something bad, and you can't even give it away.
As many others have said, it is imperative to see the final product.
There are reservations about JC Wings' influence on HX/SQ. Especially since we are talking about 737s and ERJs.
And before anyone tells me that "they have nothing to do with each other," I will tell you to please stop. Don't insult us. The dispute between JC Wings and DPM was well documented, and most of DPM's output still has JC Wings written all over it. Anyone who says otherwise is full of bovine feces, plain and simple.
I think it actually hurts DPM and Legacy Jets to insist otherwise, as it makes them lose credibility. As I said, most collectors in the forums are well aware of what happened and can easily see through any statements against it. Kindly cut it out once and for all.
Instead, the narrative could be changed to something like: Yes, once upon a time, DPM and JC Wings were partners, but that changed recently, and DPM is on its way to becoming more innovative or what have you.
Or better yet, don't even bring up the topic anymore.
Two important key points:
1) Not all DPM products are enhanced versions of JC Wings products. Case in point, the HX 747s. So there is a good chance the new HX ERJs, 737s, and A320s could indeed be brand new, highly improved molds. Again, we need photos yesterday.
2) It is true that HX 747s were reasonably priced, but I think there is a market for premium pricing if the product is good enough.
Time will tell.
