KPIT Concourse C - 1:400

Hey all

This is the next project, a piece of my hometown airport in 1:400. International Gates C55-C61 in its full 2022-present detail down to the correct cracks in the concrete (mostly). I’ve included some wip photos to slightly show the handmade process. Ignore the American Airlines lineup, It’s just to show the look

The only things I have to add are any markings where the jet bridges rest and the brand new patches of concrete that were freshly poured the last few years that have major color differences (squares are marked with a “w”). I am not too thrilled about the color of the red posca pens so if anyone has any recommendations on thin paint markers that have a darker hue of red to them, please let me know! I hope to fully finish this one and get good proper photos with the right airlines soon.

December 20th, 2024; G-ZBJB, a British Airways 787-8 lands at Pittsburgh International Airport 8:37pm, about a half hour late. As per usual, she's taxied into gate C59 where ground handling gets to work immediately to turn her back around for a 9:45 departure back to London.

Ground services at work, she's heavily serviced for her return flight.



This flight is known to bring over decently sized cargo shipments, as shown being loaded in now:




Catering trucks loading up passengers dinners and drinks while fueling and cargo gets loaded up:

BA flight 170 finally pushes back at 11:09, over an hour after schedule. Thankfully, they only arrived three minutes after schedule in London the next morning.




Engines spooling up while the passengers tuck themselves into a 6 hour flight. They will be sent to one of the de-icing ramps before departing on runway 28C:

I’ve received the terminal today! It is about an inch short and he offered to make a small extension piece so that will come in eventually. The rest is damn near perfect. There’s an insane amount of detail on this thing from the light poles to the jetways. Proper good photos to come in the next few days!

I was very careful I swear! I only bring the board outside when it’s not windy out or anything so nothing gets blown. The cones and ground crew are super light so they’d go quite far with the right gust of wind It’s up on the half wall so I don’t have to break my back hunched over near the floor. Ideally i’d love a small table with a rolling stool to maneuver for my shots but in due time! for now? I risk it all lol

The many many hills of pittsburgh are quite unavoidable…

I’ve got all the AA heritage 321s and another BA photo set coming up. Hopefully if we’re to get an Icelandair 738Max (NG pls the 9s are great but I need 8s !!) I’ll feature that basically instantly as well Condor used to fly into PIT a few years ago on 763s as well as Delta to CDG on 763s so they may come eventually as well. Lots of photos to take on this layout!
