Totally agree.Having the stuff you want made on only the crappiest moulds available is probably worse than not having them made at all

I'll wait for NG to wake up to QF regulars. JC's A330s s**kI’m super happy to finally see another Qantas OneWorld A330. A little disappointed that it’s not the new livery but oh well. The mould’s dogshhhh but I’ll still get it.
YesDid the ATRs ever wear the Chelsea Rose tail?
Definitely me tooAnd I would be happy to take them all
Looking forward to that one
Oh I wish... 20 bucks they'll release then when I finally find a set of the Phoenix QF A330s for sale.I'll wait for NG to wake up to QF regulars. JC's A330s s**k
I will respectfully disagree with you on this; I view it as you getting an opportunity to buy the product rather than going without, regardless of the mould.Having the stuff you want made on only the crappiest moulds available is probably worse than not having them made at all

Exactly my thoughts. I feel like some people would be happier in this hobby if they settled for what’s on the market rather than hope and pray for the best-quality brand to release said product, not knowing when that’s going to happen. I used to chase that standard back in the COVID days, but after being enlightened by several collector friends of mine, I’ve changed my mindset in this hobby, and I’m better off buying what comes on the market first, whenever I can.Agreed. While of course the preferred is on the best moulds available, it’s just unfortunately not realistic.
the JC/GJ ATR is great and I have quite a few - most recently a pair of Thais, the Cubana, and an ANZ - at times the nlg is off, or the cockpit printing is off - fortunately my recent ones don't have these issues.regardless of how good or bad that mould is
I actually agree with both sides of this discussion. While I agree with @JJ Skippy that hoping for just the best mould to be used for a release is counterproductive it is also true that every release using a weak mould makes it less likely a better one will be made. Sometimes it is obvious that multiple versions will be made (usually with A350s and such) and in that case waiting for the best mould makes sense. Having said that there are not that many moulds that are so bad I avoid them totally, but there are a few that are so weak (Phoenix 747s and A300, JC/GJ A320NEO) that they really are too poor to buy imho.
In relation to the JC Wings ATR it is a fine mould. The 737-500 is good enough, not great, but there are no alternatives anyway. Both models are well worth buying I'd say.

I'm getting that BA ATR with the Chelsea Rose - whenever it comes.

Olympic A300, most likely the same Blue Box mould that was used for the Emirates A300 by GJ Wings a while back.
I was hesitant to get the KLM ATR-42 as the cockpit windows looked off, but as you said, in person it's really not as noticeable, unless you take close-up/diorama pictures.Honestly, while you can always scrutinize those details…these models (specifically props) in any scale around 1:400 are going to be T I N Y
Feels more like an opportunity to either get nothing or get something you won’t ever be happy with. The latter’s more annoying because it leads to the false hope of better brands also making what you want.I will respectfully disagree with you on this; I view it as you getting an opportunity to buy the product rather than going without, regardless of the mould.
Personally I am more happy having a mediocre product than nothing at all if it came down to that (ex. GJ releasing the Avelo 737). Respectfully, I think your high standards for 1:400 are causing a burden for you in this hobby. Therefore, I recommend giving JC another chance when they have, for example, another KAL or SQ model in a future release, despite your past experiences with the brand. I think at the end of the day you’d be happier having a new KAL/SQ model from at least someone than having nothing new.Feels more like an opportunity to either get nothing or get something you won’t ever be happy with. Box art for the QF A330 seems to suggest JC are also planning to release VH-EBN in standard 2007-2016 livery. Not sure what's behind that decision since VH-EBN is actually now the oneworld logojet in the current livery.
I'll pass on this since I have the old Gemini release (albeit with a different registration). If I recall correctly, all the QF A332s that have been released seem to have some issues:
Hopefully this changes soon. I'm surprised nobody except Aeroclassics have done the A332 in the current standard and oneworld liveries yet (especially JC and NG since they've already done the freighter versions so have the basic artwork anyway).
- The Gemini releases are on very old moulds
- The Phoenix releases have oversized horizontal stabilizers (has this been fixed yet?)
- The Aeroclassics have major printing problems (incorrect titles etc.)
