Critical Aviator 1/400 collection

Air France Boeing 777-328ER F-GZNT in the SkyTeam livery by NG. F-GZNT is the penultimate 777 to be delivered to Air France unless the carrier orders the 777X. The aircraft wore the SkyTeam livery until September 2024. Like all AF SkyTeam 777s, it has been repainted in the Crevette livery. With the Crevette livery F-GZNT received the name 'Roubaix'.

Do you know why Air France repainted all of their SkyTeam liveries?

Do you know why Air France repainted all of their SkyTeam liveries?
Maintenance: AF’s fleet is overwhelmingly composed of the eurowhite livery and only a handful of aircraft ever wore the skyteam livery in the AF fleet. So AF decided it was better to have an all eurowhite fleet than to have to repaint mismatched parts on the Skyteam liveried aircraft, meaning they have a consistent looking fleet and every aircraft only need to have the necessary parts replaced before returning to service. KLM also adopted this strategy when updating their own livery with the introduction of the A321neo.

Although KLM did keep the Orange Pride livery on PH-BVA, which is the only exception in this strategy, aside from the retro livery Transavia A321neo.

A big and wealthy airline like Air France can't maintain a few Skyteam special liveries?! That's really strange.

So KLM isn’t getting another SkyTeam livery after PH-BXO’s retirement?

I found it strange as well but I get why they are doing it. AF might be big but as @Jazajia said, the profit margins might not be big enough to afford maintaining the SkyTeam livery, at least without having mismatched parts. I don’t know enough about AF’s finances to judge whether or not they could could have done so but I’m starting to suspect that even if they did have the money to maintain the SkyTeam livery, they would have repainted the aircraft anyway, just to have lighter aircraft. But that’s only based on the assumption that the SkyTeam livery is heavier than the standard AF livery, which would affect fuel consumption and hence, operating costs. That would also explain why AF focused on stickers for their special schemes, and a very small one at that for F-HUVJ.

SkyTeam originally had set a certain quota of aircraft in it’s member airlines their fleets to be painted in the SkyTeam livery. That was scrapped a few years ago. For AF-KLM, since these silver painted birds had a significant fuel penalty it was decided to not repaint the SkyTeam livery when they were due for repainting.

Air France Boeing 777-328ER F-GSQI in the JonOne livery by NG. JonOne is a New York born graffiti artist who has collaborated with Air France twice, first with their 80th anniversary livery, and this JonOne sticker on F-GSQI. In 2015, JonOne was invited to put his own twist on the airline's accent (the red stripe next to the AIr France title). The livery debuted on a flight to New York and remained until F-GSQI was repainted in the Crevette livery in 2021 and named 'Rambouillet'.
F-GSQI was also present during the farewell ceremony for Air France's 747, facing Air France's final 747 in the hangar, symbol of two generations of long haul widebodies, the Jumbo Jet and the Big Twin, a passing of the torch.

Very beautiful aircraft!

Two Air France Boeing 777-328ERs, F-GSQH and F-GZNP in the Paris 2024 livery by NG. The sticker was an advertisement for Paris being a candidate city to host the 2024 summer olympics. The sticker was removed from F-GSQH in 2018 and F-GZNP's sticker was removed between 2019 and 2021. Both aircraft are currently flying in the 2009 Barcode livery.
