Bake's 1:400 Collection

Back to the basics today. A full US Airways lineup that’s ‘mostly’ realistic on the timeline for these models. This fictional setup features a handful of regional gate setups and even a makeshift bus gate to theoretical hardstand gates.

Small overviews, I forgot to take a couple good ones with the lighting for this photo set:

First up is this retro! N745VJ is an A319 delivered to US Airways in 2000 as N745UW. In 2006 it adopted this Allegheny retro livery and the updated reg to match the history with the “VJ” suffix. It’s still flying with AA in the standard colors now, still with this “VJ” suffixed reg! This model was released by GeminiJets back in 2006. Mine features slight cracking on the underside…I suspect zinc rot of some kind. Check your models if you haven’t in a while!

One I photographed before, an ex-America West A320 (N680AW). I’m hoping I can find N109UW, the older Gemini release from the early 2000s…hard to come by!

N362PX is a Saab340 seen here in the most recent US Airways colors. It was originally delivered to Northwest Airlines Express in 1991 and then in 2002 moved to Mesaba. In 2007 Colgan Air aquired it and flew it as seen here for US Airways Express. I believe they were based in LGA flying to local smaller airports in the area but correct me if I’m wrong. This model was released by GeminiJets in 2012. A great little model on a great little mould. Now to find the navy colors version!!

This Dash 8-200 taxis into its gate from a short flight. This is N987HA, a 1996 delivery to Piedmont. In 2004 it flew for Mesa, before being stored in 2012. In 2013 it flew for LC Peru, and then in 2015 for Dynamic Aviation Group. In 2018, it was registered as N8200R for US Special Operations Command and finally stored in 2023. This model was released by GeminiJets in 2010. It’s the only US Airways Dash 8 model ever released which is a huge bummer. I’ve been wanting a navy version at least for many many years.

Look at this modified beast! A good long life for this aircraft.

Some photos of N441US, a 737-400 featured here in the past from GeminiJets. Hopeful to get another US 737 in the next few years!

Next up is the bus gates. I set this up to act like a temporary place where passengers board busses to take them to theoretical remote stands to board their aircraft. Here are 4 busses made by Fantasy Wings in US Airways colors. They were for sure found at Philadelphia for taking passengers between the mainline B/C terminals to the F terminal for regional flights. I love having these busses and hope to find good use for them in the future! Perhaps a DCA mockup from when the regionals didn’t have their own terminal in the 2000s…

The second bus from the left hand side departs for the hardstands full of passengers. The next bus over is letting off passengers from a flight that just arrived!
