Bake's 1:400 Collection

Hello All,

Here I will be posting pictures of my collection slowly over time! It is a small collection right now of roughly "only" 80 models, a little over half of it being US Air/US Airways/American Airlines. One day, I hope to collect every US Airways/LUS aircraft registration released since about 2000 and I am about 40% finished.

I used to collect some models in 2013-2015 before taking a break due to cost/my age at the time. Now that I am damn near 24, I have a little adult money and I can spend way too much on these little pieces of painted metal! 😄 I got back into collecting in the summer of 2024, purchasing about 40 or some odd models between now and then (no its not an addiction I swear!). I am currently using my phone to take photos and I hope they will improve more and more over time via the custom airport layouts I make, the terminals I make/get designed (some in the works now!), and better lighting/backdrops.

Here is a link to MADb of my collection and my current numbers surrounding my US Airways collection, down to what reg's i'll need to complete:

If anyone has any versions/registrations I need, I always listen to offers and ill be interested if they are priced within good reason.

Enjoy!

First Photos!

I recently received a great deal on this US Airways Arizona Livery so it gets the first dibs! It was released in 2007 by Geminijets. The "standard" Cactus A319 is by Aeroclassics from 2021 and the A321 is by Geminijets, a 2014 release. The board is a small layout made by myself of a section of Terminal A at Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl Airport, circa ~2011-2014 (still a WIP in its current state but good enough to get some early photos)

Overview 1.jpg

N826AW was delivered to America West in 2001 and server under them, US Airways and then American Airlines. It is still active today in the American Airlines standard colors.
Arizona gassing up and getting ready for pushback:

N829AW was delivered to America West in 2001 as well and served the same path as N826AW so far. Still active with American Airlines today.
It's getting some sleep for an early morning departure tomorrow:

N162UW was delivered to US Airways in 2001, and is still active with American Airlines today.

Awesome stuff! Welcome to the forum and keep posting some pics! :)

Thank you Leo! I remember coming to Wings900 back some years ago to check if you and some others such as Charter, whom has joined here recently too(?), had your airport updates every so often. It's great you're still around if you are the same person I am thinking of.

Yes, it's me! That's so nice to read!!!

Next on the list is another brand new ebay arrival, the NG USAir 757-200. N603AU was delivered to Eastern Airlines in 1983 and was acquired by USAir in '92. Lived with them till its retirement in 2009 and later scrapped in 2012. Truly a great model, huge props to NG on this mould. I hope to see this livery on more of their products in the future.

Behind is the Dragon Wings US Airways A330-300 registered N273AY. It was delivered to US Airways in 2000 and served with both them and American Airlines before being placed in storage during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was finally scrapped in early 2024 :( . My first die cast model with plastic wings. Quite a shock but its still not a bad model minus some blemishes on the fuselage that aren't ~too~ visible if you angle in the lighting a certain way. This one also features removable gear and a stand which will come in handy eventually.

IMG_0273.jpg

Not my best photo but; Lurking in the background is N648US, a 767-200 also in the USAir colors. It served originally with Piedmont and served mainly with US Airways up until the 2014 merger with American Airlines when it was retired.

Photos taken on my KPIT layout. Enjoy

Photos taken on my KPIT layout. Enjoy

Wonderful models, specially the NG 757, which is one of the best moulds in 1:400 scale!
The US Airways A330 by Dragon is also decent, despite the not so accurate nose section.

It sure isn't perfect but it was a 2007 release so i'm cutting it a lot of slack for that. I'd be disappointed if this was a brand new model for sure. Plus, naturally, I don't see a ton of demand for this airline right now so ill take what I can get lol

My first international showing!

G-ZBJB is a Boeing 787-8 sent to British airways in 2013. BA 787-8s frequent Pittsburgh Airport nearly daily now. They are usually only swapped out for 787-9s or -10s on rare occasion. Beautiful model for being over 10 years old now (2014 release). Gemini has a great 787 mould imo, unsure if its the best in the game right now but it has to be up there? More pictures in the "Model Airport" Section of the forum, go check them out. Enjoy.

For todays photo batch, you all get another preview of my new diorama project of Phoenix Intl Airport. First up is the US Airways A319 registered N828AW in the old America West Retro livery; Made by Gemini all the way back in 2007. N828AW belonged to America West before serving the rest of his life for US Airways and American Airlines where he is still active today in the normal colors.

America West Retro 1.jpg

Parked next to him is the US Airways 757-200 in the standard white livery and winglets. The winglets were slowly installed on the entire US Airways 757 fleet after the merger with America West in the early 2000s, along with new registrations for some. This one is registered as N201UU which it got in 2006. This aircraft was purchased in 1995 by US Air where it had the registration N632AU. American Airlines stored this frame in 2015, and New Pacific Airlines has become the planes new home, now registered as N629NP. A nearly 30 year old plane still goes strong, hopefully for a long while longer!

US 757 1.jpg

Heres where N201UU is at today :)

Across the terminal is an A320, registered N680AW. As you can guess it was delivered new to America West in 2005 and is still active with American Airlines today. Parked at the gate next door is an E170 registered N807MD. Serving most its time technically operated by Republic Airlines, he has since been scrapped in 2018.

Wonderful models and scenery. Do you have any 757 in the Darth Vader scheme? It's a fantastic combination in my opinion. To be honest, I don't even know if it was ever released in 1:400.

Thank you as always! There are two releases of that scheme I believe. One from NG in 2018 which is quite rare and going for 150$ or more (no thank you!😅) and gemini made one in the early 2000s which is in the mail currently! I used to like the white livery more a couple years back but the more we go into this age of white planes I truly miss the darker navy colors. Very elegant and lovely colors on the eyes. Very unique for the time as well. You shall see photos of that guy as well as another “Darth Vader” plane coming in the next few weeks! Very excited to get my hands on them both.

Did the E-170s visit Phoenix? I thought those were mostly East Coast birds while Phoenix was CRJ/Dash 8 territory.

Great photos and good info.

I believe you are correct there since they were all most if not all owned by Republic, I just don’t have my east coast boards finished quite yet🤗. I think PHL and DCA were the only hubs to get those E170s. PHX regionals were operated mostly by Mesa and maybe a couple others throughout the years? Not super crazy into the deep lore of the regional subsidiary’s on the west side of the country lol but I assume it was mostly whatever was inherited by America West after the merger.

PIT and CLT too I believe. Yes, Phoenix I believe was exclusively Mesa. With the AA merger SkyWest showed up.

How could I possibly forget CLT lol. PIT also has their E170 ops base there too, still now even with American. I remember they had a Flybe E170 parked outside one of the hangars for a good while within the last year or so (unsure fully why but some kinda maintenance or scrap part plane I’d assume). So many regional subsidiaries between the big airlines of the 2000s so far that all have or have had slight crossovers of their fleet types it’s so hard to keep track of at times, especially historically when specific contracts and whatnot expire and restart

Just an FYI. This model was made using the Phoenix mould and released by Gemini when they had a partnership, other 787 releases may vary significantly depending on whether they were made using the old Gemini cradle mould, the Phoenix one or the newer JC Wings tooling

Great info, thanks! Guess i’m in love with the Phoenix mould then. Would you happen to know what mould the Gemini AA 787-8 is? N808AN from august of ‘23. I enjoy that one as well but i haven’t looked at both models side by side as I assumed they are the same.
