AV400 January Releases

The Vietnam A350 isn’t the most exciting release ever but I missed the first few so I’ll pick it up.

Looks like they’ve completed the trio of Qantas 787s, but I’ve already got the NGs so I’ll pass on this one.

I’ll also grab the China Eastern, missed the NG versions of those too unfortunately.

I just hope AV can get their 777/350 diameter correct. They are toooooo thin currently which really bothers cuz it's great mould otherwise!! somebody needs to let them know.

I was looking forward to a few of these, namely the Vietnam & Korean Air, but it looks like the engine exhaust nozzle on the VN model is entirely covered in teal paint when it should be a dark grey with a silver/metal colored ring between the cowling and exhaust nozzle. This is a distinct lack of attention to detail I've come to expect from Aviation400:

Oof… Just pre-ordered this one, hopefully my unit won’t be affected.

For many years people used to roast the Phoenix 747 because of the wing to fuselage joint. I can’t believe how so few people seem to notice that the Aviation400 77W is just as bad in that regard. Not to mention the thin fuselage and oversized antennas. It represents a 77W as much as Phoenix jumbos represent 747s. It is amazing what a piece of translucent red plastic can do…

Is it thou, I honestly can't see it.

This overpainting is on ALL the A350s 😱

I thought QF's Yam Dreaming was coming with this batch but it's not listed 🤔. I was also looking forward to AF's A359 but looks like AV400 decided to make the same registration as NG (F-HUVJ Paris 2024)... 😑 ugh!

I also noticed the same on this CA Star Alliance they posted on their IG. I see the same issue on the AF, LH, MU, JL, TG Star Alliance, and the VN you posted. That's really bad if they allowed those A350s to leave the factory like that...

It is subtle, but it just doesn't look quite right to me. Not a deal breaker of course, but certainly not as awesome as many say it is, in my opinion. I kept my NG UA 77W and let the AV400 go, the customer was very happy with it. I do have an ITA A350 by AV400 in my collection and I'm okay with it, even though I'm aware of its faults.

But hey, red beacons!

Smoke and mirrors... and magnets...

They are welcome to prove me wrong though, but so far they have confirmed my stance.

I just checked my ITA A359. It is a pre-magnetic landing gear example, but at least the engine exhausts are painted in some sort of grey/metallic color 😅

@Jazajia you really have a bee in your bonnet about AV400 :)

Their 777 is fine. Any issues with fuselage width are barely noticeable - as @swagninja84 just showed. I also don't know what you're on about with the wing join. I just took a look at my Air China cabinet where there are multiple brand 777s together and I had to really look to remember which one was even the AV400 one.

Hopefully the engine exhaust issue on the A350s mentioned is a pre-production thing.

Okay, I'll give you the fuselage width issues, as it can be quite subjective. But, come on, don't say you don't know what I'm talking about with the wing joint. That's a more objective argument.

Here are some photos of my comparison of NG and AV400 a while ago.

And here is a real 77W.

Now don't say you don't see what I'm talking about unless you want all your reviews to lose credibility. Instead, go and tell the AV400 guys that they make a heck of an A380, but they need to get their shit together with just about every other of their current molds. Unless, of course, they keep sticking plastic beacons and magnets all over them, there's definitely a solid customer base that can't seem to see past that sort of thing.

Something's wrong with Av400 over the past couple of years.
After the zenith of their fabulous A380s, it's broadly been an unfortunate downturn.
Mould upgrades or introductions are regularly fraught with issues. Too much to handle? Experiments with magnetic gear, pressure of meeting production deadlines, pressure of 'innovating'...? Dunno. Their A330s & A340s, problematic as they were (though still better even then than the JC/GJ ones) were never seen again. The A330neo introduction was a disaster. The A350 upgrade pre-magnetic gear wasn't that great. The 787s have problematic magnetic attachments that don't sit flush, and engines that hang too low.
Sigh.

IMO the winglet’s the biggest issue with their 350, it’s miles off the upgraded version seen on post-2018 aircraft. It frustratingly hasn’t been fixed on the newest releases.
