The whole situation with Delta is complex because it is evident they’re willing and able to expand their fleet (ex LATAM 350s) but I’ve think they realized that the Airbus backlog is becoming a bit too large. Also I would think Boeing would be giving them a large difference in price as a domestic manufacturer who has had long history with them. Moral of the story is Delta needs planes and will buy from whoever. While Delta is waiting for the delivery of the First A350-1000 (2026, early 2027) to replace some of the B767s in fleet, rumors say that the airline could also order the B787-10
"As rumors circulate online that Delta Air Lines may soon place its first order for the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, it is also preparing to introduce the stretched Airbus A350-1000 into service. Delta ordered 20 of these aircraft with an option for 20 more in early 2024. The first examples are expected to be delivered in 2026, although it's possible this could be delayed until 2027".
