A recent pickup from AirSpotters is this Avianca Boeing 707-359B HK-1402. Avianca had started jet operations by leasing a Pan Am 707-121 in October 1960 and then acquiring a single 720 to replace it in 1961, followed by a second in 1965. It wasn't until 1968 that their first owned 707 was delivered. HK-1402 'Sucre' arrived on March 7 and was joined by HK-1410 'Bolivar' on April 24, 1970. Six further 707-321B/Cs, all ex-Pan Am, would be added during the late 70s. HK-1402 served until being broken up at Miami in June 1993.

Here she is next to HK-1849 in a later more colourful scheme. 1849 had been Clipper Mermaid N796PA with Pan Am until sold to Colombia in April 1976. She stayed with Avianca until 1985 when she joined Burlington Air Express as N865BX.

Nice addition to your Avianca 707 fleet Richard!

Coincidentally, I actually do have HK-1402 in my fleet.

The only Avianca 707 I need to complete my Avianca 707 fleet is HK-1849.

It seems so hard to find.

Would you know anyone that might have a spare model?

I have a spare model of HK-2070 in the early 1980s livery which I would consider to trade for anyone who is willing to spare a HK-1849.

Much appreciated.

I thoroughly enjoy your posts too Richard!

Thanks. Sorry I don't know anyone who would have it. You're right Avianca models are hard to find!
