A recent arrival and my 3,500th 400 scale model is this JAT Aeroclassics 727-200 in the early 2000s livery after international services had been resumed. Following the breakup of the original Soviet Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992 the rump state consisting of Serbia and Montenegro continued to call itself the Republic of Yugoslavia until 2003 and sanctions on JAT weren't lifted until 2000. YU-AKI flew the airlines last 727 service in October 2005, albeit in all white following a year long lease to West African in Benin.

Great model Richard! Aeroclassics does an amazing job with their 727's. Just to clarify one thing: The S in SFRY stands for Socialist. In that sense, Yugoslavia had almost nothing to do with the Soviet Union as early as the 1950's as Tito and Stalin never saw eye-to-eye after that.

Sorry you're 100% right!
No need to apologize. I also forgot to mention that the main reason for the dissociation with the Soviet Union, was that Yugoslavia was part of the Non-Aligned Movement together with Libya, Egypt, India etc. So the reason is not really because of the disputes between the two governments like I mentioned earlier.

Aviation-wise, this was the reason why there were so many obscure aircraft visiting the country carrying delegations from the non-aligned states (if anyone ever wonders).

I tend to shy away from the Gemini/JC A330 mold. If you can I would look at NG, Phoenix and even Aeroclassics. In my opinion it’s the weakest of the bunch.
I do have a few Phoenix A330s and they’re very good, my newest Phoenix Qantas A330 it’s okay but the wings aren’t right. I will definitely be getting an NG a330 soon. I hate when the only A330 model I want is only available in the JC mould.
