Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

Wonderful arrivals! Nice info about the Egyptair B747-300. I didn't know she was one of the late built B747-300s.
If Egyptair had selected CF6-80 engines, they would join the club of original operators of the "747-300-almost-400": Thai, Varig and Air India :)

About the Orient Thai info: you mentioned they "operated nearly all existing passenger variant of the 747 except for the 748". Did they have the SP at some point? I don't remember seeing pics of it.

Thank you Leo for your kind words. Late-built 743 is a quite fascinating subject to reproduce as none has been correctly represented so far. Cathay Pacific also had 1 or 2 late built 743 with RR as well.

They don’t have the SP like you mentioned, hence I have updated the description. They have operated all main standard length 747s (-100 thru -400) but no shortened (-SP) or lengthened (-8i). They had quite many 747s in their fleet.

Herpa Models arrived a few days ago, thanks to Squatchy's sale! I used to collect Herpa back in the day, both 1:500 and 1:400 scale. So having these does bring back memories~

  • Nose shape looks off-putting
  • Cockpit printing appears too low

  • Comes with a plastic stand
  • It was labeled as Herpa Wings on the website, but I later found out to be a Hogan Wings model. So I guess this is a first 1:400 Hogan model~

Latest arrival for me:

Aeroclassics
VASP - Airbus A300B2-200 - PP-SNL

I bought this model recently from another collector here in Brazil. It's a replacement for my custom Dragon Wings version (see it here).
My custom version was actually fine IMO but the cheatlines were too close together (they should have a wider gap between them). So I decided to replace it with the AC release.

AC A300 mould is lovely, despite being an old cradle type mould. However, the gears look so basic, so I painted the wheel hubs in white, just to make it stand out a bit more. I personally like it better now. See below:

Sadly this model suffers from the "wavy wing" issue, also present on some of the latest AC A300 releases...
Their quality control is really a shame :mad::mad:
Despite this, I'm happy with the model.

AC Swissair DC-8-62 & Delta DC-10-10 just landed safely…they’re absolute crackers. So good to finally have the chocolate-stripe DC-8 in 1:400, what a lovely little model. The Delta Widget DC-10 is also a stunner, and has a real metal belly as does the DC-8, as already mentioned above. The QC is nice and solid on both of these, and the DC-10 came in the same themed box “Tri-Jet 10’s of the Americas” as the original releases did back in circa 2011-2013. Really glad I picked these two up, it was a nice surprise to have another shot at the Delta DC-10 especially.

As already discussed not that long ago, this QC issue with the A300 wing castings which has affected releases from the past 2 years or so really sticks in my craw. All these poor wing castings should have been rejected, there should be a % rate factored in for that. I dealt with mine by using needle pliers.

A special arrival at the hangar yesterday was the delightful 2024 retailer exclusive for La Tienda De Aviacion in Costa Rica. It was a bit of a mission to get it here and massive thanks go out to both the store owner and @josecolme for getting it to me. It is really appreciated. Lovely little model and a real classic A320 since, as the box says, LACSA was the first operator in Latin America and took delivery of its first pair in 1990.
