Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

Just a somewhat "unsuccessful" sale-hunting season! Last week was Pre-Single Day (Nov 11th) Sale on Taobao and I had plan to purchase 3 models within the same shop. Things does not go as well according to plan... Here are the latest arrivals for me:

- Unplanned for this shopping spree is this China Southern B787-9 B-1128 by AV400 - my first model for a long time with detachable gears, this time with the brand' s invention of using magnetic attachment. My criticism for the copy I received is the port engine angled downward. Gears are rollable but not equiped with rubber tyres. Here is the model on the stand doing a low fly-by above the construction.

From the same shop of the CZ B789 is also another AV400 models, with magnetic-detachable landing gears. Introducing the model with one of the highest MSRP currently available - British Airways A380-841 G-XLEL. The model is behemoth! Actually I joined this sale just because the price of this model dropped into the acceptable zone. Unlike other main gears whose mount has a specific direction, the 6-wheels bogey can be installed in the wrong direction so make sure to check it (I did it wrong in the first place lol). Welp the A380 was parked in the wrong bay so the wingspan was out of scope.

Lastly, a model which I really like but had to be purchased from another shop due to unavailability at the same shop as BA A380 - Belavia B737Max8 EW-528PA by JCWings. A real little gem! The latest one released by JCW carries the reg EW-546PA - an aircraft that was not taken up by the Belarusian flag carrier.

So, here is the story: i planned to buy 3 models (BA, Belavia and Oman B38M) in the same shop in order to achieve maximum discount. I checked the stock when the sale was opened for 14 minutes on the night of 31st October. BAAAM! Both Max were sold out. I didn't thought that collectors would rush to by aircraft models that quick lol. As to receive the same amount of discount as my original plan, I subsidized with the CZ B789 - which I hoped to get sometime in the near future. Belavia was then purchased at another store that still had it in stock! Also, I was fortunate enough to get the Oman Air separately yesterday from the same store as my plan and eager to get it in the next 2 weeks or so. The 11.11 hasn't come yet but I hope that there would be no more interesting models to get as I am running low now. I eager to see what you guys get for the incoming Black Friday - I might be out of the game lol.

Bloopers! The detachable landing gear allowed me to try unthinkable gear config! With 2x 6 bogey wheels the A380 could stand well, but not with this configuration!

Picked up the pre-ordered JC that the retailer urging me to collect:
(Apologies for the messy table - this is the only flat surface that's available for photo shoot in my dorm)

The only model that I'm satisfied, the only one free from defect:

The model itself is generally good, yet the alignment of the elements near the bottom of the exhaust of the left engine left a bit to be desired...:cautious:

Finanlly one that I'm utterly disappointed:

JC seems to bother with the anti-missle system on the bottom - see this comparison with the UA Saul Bass 744

The defect on this one though small, but still makes me mad... The workers seems to scrape some paint from the wingtip..😠😠

With the retailer having no spare units on hand, I reluctantly accepted the model, though it's still very annoying that JC stills frequently mess up their 744 despite they have been using them for a few years now...😡😡

Oh I somehow forgot this JC 744 that I got not long ago, yet this one also comes with a defect that can't be unseen...

The pylons on one engine was not installed properly so the engine hangs too low - very awful I must say...😭

JC, what have you been doing with your 744 toolings? Are you workers not familiar enough with the mould??😡😡

Picked up these from CAMAUST yesterday. Thrilled to see NG’s 748 mould in person and this particular model is a prime example of how far printing and detailing have come in this scale. Unfortunately there were some QC issues. My N863GT has a bent underside antenna and the QF 747SP only sits on 3 of its main landing gear. Regardless, all three are excellent aircraft and worthy additions to my collection.

I like the FAT MD-83! The cockpit windows could have a better position and the nose gear could be shorter... On the other hand, the nose gear position looks correct to me - muuuuch better than these recent Gemini releases.

Phoenix MD-80s are underrated. Never seen one with their updated landing gear. Albeit it is indeed way too large.

Phoenix Lufthansa A340-200 D-AIBE "Stuttgart"
Not too convinced on the grey, but the font and the crane at least looks slightly more natural than the A346 sister in the same livery released by PH not long ago...🤐
I have this one on pre-order and really looking forward to it. Also have the recent A346 and I agree with your observations. Nice model nonetheless.

QC issues seem to be unfortunately common with N863GT, and they always have something to do with the aerials. Stunning model though!

Yeah I get out both the A342 and A346 to make a comparison - and indeed Phoenix did make some minor adjustments on the newer A342.

Nose - the font on the A342 are larger hence less "squashed" than A346. The grey though still left quite some room for discussion - especially A342 which is a few shades darker than the already too dark A346......20231112_191639.JPG
Tail - proportion wise the crane on A342 looks more accurate than A346, yet color wise both are someway off from real thing... 20231112_191705.JPG

Oh I should mention that I just realized my A342 unit comes with build issue on one of the pylon - looks very likely to be a paint issues but I will likely still prepare for the worst - zinc rot.:confused:20231112_191802.JPG20231112_191816.JPG20231112_191746.JPG

KE 787-10 (HL8515) by NG.

This is NG's first modern KE heavy, so it's a surefire MOTY candidate for me. Yes, even despite the incorrect wi-fi dome color. The blue and silver are particularly stunning in hand.

Note to NG: this sold out before even hitting retailers, so more KE widebodies (not 737s!) may be a good business decision...

NG's fantasy BOAC recently arrived. The nose on this mould isn't the greatest, but "good enough" I may say. Looking forward to seeing this livery on a good 747-136 mould..

Still looks super good I have to say, they actually made this look really good on the 748! Still surpasses what else is on the market.
