Show Your Latest 1:400 Purchase

View attachment 15522It’s my first time having a flaps down model and I must admit that this feature is stunning on the 744. Just arrived this United Airlines Boeing 744 in Saul Bass colors. In love with the model, the livery and everything ! Excellent job, JC Wings
So this thing is hitting the stores... Knowing JC I thought it was going to be a minimum of a year before I saw it. Well, I guess I need to make a decision here. Not exactly in my criteria, but it can fit into the collection with a little wiggle.

Edit: Congrats on the new addition, we need way more 747s other than -8 on nice molds. Thanks fo sharing the picture!

Got this AV400 B-KPF as a "test purchase" from My Hobby House. Excellent retailer and model. Compared to the NG it's got more detail on the APU but less on the wing root. Other than that, all the usual AV400 vs NG points apply. Now that my 777 mould collection is conplete, I can say the AV400 and NG are a smidge better than the JC.

NG's VR-HHK arrived today, and what a stunner! It's just flat out more detailed than the Inflight200. Definite MOTY contender for me.
That is basically why I rarely touch 1:200 (excluding biz jets), larger doesn't imply more detail or better mould at all with NG now in the game. Still in dire need of the 744/8 from NG...

A few of recent arrivals, amazing month of models

Great arrivals @KG3036_SS ! I myself will receive the same Lettuce pairs as your. May I ask whether the B744 came with a stand or bubbles on the model? Thank you!

Hey mate, Congratulations on completing your 777 fleet! Now, which one pips the other? NG or AV400? Is it a question of preference or is there a winner in this category? IMO, AV400 comes out on top. Although I wish they would improve their pylons, and release a 200 variant.

After playing around with both, I think they're tied.

AV400 advantages: jeweled beacon lights, detailed APU, cockpit windows look better from the front, pivoting maingear, fan blade spiral detail

NG advantages: more detailed landing gear, crisp moulding, correctly-sized aerials, accurate underside belly fairing crease, better printing

If you really want to choose between the two... go AV400 for interactive features and extra moulded detail, choose NG for overall refinement and extra printed detail. Both are superior to JC.

Thanks! The 744 comes with a stand and foam protection. And unfortunately paint bubbles are inevitable on them :( - it is rumored that they are JC's first use on the 744 mould and the paintjob on them ain't well :cautious:

Another couple of BA decalled customs I've put together... This time using a JC Wings 767 with its slightly longer tail fin, meaning the lower tail/APU wrap decal doesn't quite display as intended. The 757 is another NG donor, one of the poppy editions which required more paint removal and window replacement compared to the usual tail colours removal.

I am 100% sure that it is JC's first use in their new 744 mould - and ironically, the only 744 powered by RB211 till today on their new mould. Some JC's new mould 747s also suffer from paint bubbling (AirACT Cargo, ROMAvia (TG scheme), JAL 100th,...). I wonder why it happened on such a large scale. You got it from Taobao, as I can say?

Pretty nice! Though did you swap the engines? I’m not good with knowing which engines goes on which planes but they seem swapped.

Me neither - the most annoying thing is the paint issues differ from model to model. the few you list out are notoriously awful, while the China Airlines (Both 60 anniversary ver. and the Albatross ver.) are decent.:cautious:
I got the model from a local retailer(Not Taobao) at 480HKD:LOL:

Alas, the price has gone down through times, I should be receiving mine next week.
