Here's my latest arrival:
Boeing 767-300ER Varig PP-VOJ by Phoenix

View attachment 8423

This is my first Phoenix model. I'm not really a fan of this brand, as they seem to have the weakest moulds: their 737s, 747s and A300 look quite bizarre, and sadly I've skipped a few 747 releases due to their ugly mould. On the other hand, their 767 looks decent and this Varig bird is simply stunning! What a nice model, i'm glad I finally got it.
It looks great! I might have to get one of their 767s to see for myself!

NG Garuda 77W to (more or less) wrap up my GA widebody collection. I left Indonesia shortly after the first few came online, but I do vaguely remember seeing one at CGK.

Interestingly, NG seems to have ditched the styrofoam packaging and gone to plastic. Model quality is up to their usual standards, so I don't mind.

Nice! It is a bit odd that they have ditched it for the 777, but their other moulds still have the original foam cradle.

It's cost cutting for sure, but I don't mind as long as the model quality stays consistent. Every other 400-scale brand except NG was using plastic trays anyway.
Yep. I am not sure about the other moulds, I haven't bought any new NG non-777 widebodies for a while.

The Delta Tristar (July 2022 release) came in a foam cradle, so it's definitely a very recent development. Probably started with last month's announcements.
Yeah. The Tristar is my most recent acquisition, but we will see when my BA and TWA Tristars arrive.

Thank you! It’s G-CIVP, a 747-400 with the Utopia tails, I believe it is the Ireland tail. From what I’ve seen on his channel, I think it’s the only one Aviation18 doesn’t have.
Very nice, thanks for sharing! I must say, that tail looks very good on the 747-400. The reason I asked is because I thought it was one of the fantasy 747-200 with the Bahuhuas tails. There were only 6 made and we know where 4 of them are, it would have been cool to locate another!

A few more recent arrivals, 2 golden oldies plus the latest ‘Buchannan Models’ release.

THY DC-9-32 TC-JAD in 1970s/1980s c/s, named “Anadolu”. Released in 2005 under the short-lived UK ‘Sovereign Models’ brand, using the old SMA/AC DC-9 mould. 2022 has been a bumper year for collecting DC-9s, both with new releases and finding some old ones. I’ve managed to collect all the key European operators I was after, Alitalia, Iberia, KLM, and now this version of THY.

Air Lanka B.707-312B 4R-ALA in 1970s/1980s c/s, released in 2011 by Aeroclassics. Another awesome 707.

Air America L-1011-385-1 N372EA in 1980s hybrid c/s, released by Buchannan (NG) Models 2022. Started life in 1973 as D-AERA with LTU, leased to Nigeria Airways for a short stint in 1979 before joining the Eastern fleet in 1981. Leased to Air America in 1988, then to Air Algerie in 1989 before rejoining Eastern in it’s final days of existence in 1989.

A stunning model - fantastic to see a fully electroplated example for the first time, it really looks good on this mould. It is not chrome, just the regular metal plating which has always been used before. The tail profile does not have the sharp definition of earlier castings which is a shame, looking a little on the curved side due to excess material but still glad to have this one in the collection. It comes packaged with the regular foam block as previously supplied, with a card. Well worth having and now eagerly anticipating an Eastern example to join it in 2023 ✈️👏👏

They all look stunning, I am extremely excited to have the bare metal Eastern to go with it. :D

Those are beautiful classics! The DC-9 looks a bit "Snoopy nosed" to me, but otherwise a very nice model. The 707 and L-1011, no comments, just gorgeous birds. The shiny fuselage of the Tristar is amazing.

I recently got the Qatar 777 and thought the plastic was very rigid and firm, so I think this packing style will prevent the aircraft from moving.
