Plastic parts - is it still diecast?

Guys. People are entitled to opinions. Mods, please close this thread

No need to close it yet.
Mate, you need to be a lawyer, what total garbage. There is a way that you and the original poster can be satisfied...................leave the hobby. What a senseless waste of a post.

Chill out, mate. You can disagree with his opinion without all these harsh words. Let's keep it easy or you might end up being banned (y)

Honestly for me, even if it doesn't damage, it takes away from the premium feel of the model.
Agreed, but my models are out on airports and not held a lot anymore so as long as it looks fine. I don’t like how it is kind of flimsy sometimes with plastic.

If you don’t like…. You can also stop buying the plane models.

Maybe you can find something that you like more…

I have my preferences about the models, and the brand but… as far as I’m a consumer I buy what the market offer to me.

Which is in fact why I try to purchase models I know are high quality

It's an opinion. One I'm entitled to. Leave the hobby, that's funny. By all means, continue to defend manufacturers that are willing to compromise because you're not interested in demanding a certain standard in what you buy. Lazy. If people buy a diecast model, expecting a diecast model, and get 'mostly' a diecast model and they aren't satisfied about it, they have the right to say so. And if other collectors agree with that, that's their prerogative too.

Calling people snobs is name calling, something I've never done on here. If you don't like my opinion, please by all means say so, but your dramatics are silly.
Seriously, Im lazy am I? With a collection of models that numbers well over what I have in the database and have been collecting since the 1980s I think I am well qualified to call out a post for being what it is. I have worked with manufacturers to produce models, and have even worked with the owners of some of them on special projects. So sure call me Lazy, that just makes you look like the fool here! Its clear that you have no idea what goes into producing a model, the details and compromises, so people can critique it for having some plastic on it.

Come and talk to me and others when you have something worthwhile to contribute to a forum.

so it is you who come up with this brilliant idea to use plastic to save few cents and now so outrageously fighting for it?
You do understand that even manufacturers like Corgi, Hobby Master, Inflight all use plastic in various forms so as to not compromise the models undercarriage by being to heavy. And guess what they are all known as Diecast manufacturers. As Many have said above if this is too hard for you to except its time for a new hobby which will satisfy you, as this isn't going to change nor would any company take your grievances seriously.

Please carry on.............................................

I'll wait.

if this is too hard for you to except its time for a new hobby which will satisfy you

I think it is too hard to you to understand that other brands make 100% metal models (I dont count tiny peices like antennas) and dont have feable excuses to use plastic. if you are used to second-rate qualuty, it is your choice.

It would be interesting to hear what models are out there that people think do NOT contain plastic parts. I can only think of a few.

What if instead of writing here, you contacted the manufacturers directly and then told us what they replied? That way we can also see their level of interest. Honestly, for me the models are fine as they are.
I dont see your point of suggesting me do this. Did I say I want them to change the way they make models? there is enough choice, I will just avaid buying these type of models.

Also I dont undestand why some of you protect JC so much

Can you please clarify these 2 points?

1- seems that you want fight the plastic on the models
2- where is the part where im defending JC? (Or other brand)

Thank you :)

I dont know where you found that I said this. my message was clear: I bought a model, I found out that major part of it is plastic, I dont like this, I wont buy such type of models in the future. thats all. no action, no making someone to change anything.
2- where is the part where im defending JC? (Or other brand)
how should I take quite aggressive suggestion to shut up and buy what is presented on the marked or change the hobby if I am disappointed with certain model quality?

In this case, I don’t know where you’re located, but in Europe we have 14 days to return a product if you’re not satisfied with the model. Unfortunately, if you want a complete change in a company’s strategy, you can’t expect to achieve that with a post on a forum. Personally, I see more plastic in Dragon models, where it probably makes up around 35% of the model—but those are products from over 20 years ago.
You can express your dissatisfaction, but things won’t change in the short term (I believe).
If you don’t like the model, resell it—someone will definitely be looking for it.
Otherwise, just avoid that brand in the future. For example, I don’t buy GJ or AC because of quality, lack of detail and the absence of antennas (AC).
Everyone has their own criteria and makes their own choices.

This thread is going a bit overboard. I think it’s perfectly rational for someone to want only diecast parts (excluding wheels & antennas) in their diecast models without it offending others preferences. I myself get annoyed when there are plastic horizontal stabs & vertical stabs and will avoid them because to me it diminishes the quality of a die cast model and makes the product feel cheaper. Not sure why some people are getting so heated about a thread that asks for people’s opinions.
