Obscure Brands & Panda OEM Releases

I wanted to create this thread because I have noticed quite a few obscure brands utilizing Panda tooling’s that seem to fly under the radar. Kicking off this thread, Future Wings have listed this “YQ Model” Hainan 767.

This one was actually announced quite a while ago and I've had it on order for ages on taobao. It seems it is now available, but my order still hasn't shipped for some reason.

It would be nice if Panda sent some of the models produced by these obscure chinese brands down their international distribution networks - many people in the West would want these models. Getting them from a local retailer would be much easier than getting them via taobao.

They do a bit, when the requestor can't shift them (they recently did this with some C Models and the El Aviador Mexicana) but it is not very financially viable to do this. If I get charged $25 to make a 767 by Panda it makes no sense for me to let Panda resell them at the same price to retailers as they would sell their own products and there isn't much in it for Panda to sell other people's models without making a profit on them. All you end up with are more expensive models in the West.

I don't know exactly how manufacturers distribute and get their models to the West, but the ideal scenario would be for Panda to let the small brands utilise their contacts so that these obscure releases can be sold worldwide (not sell the products themselves). I do realise it's not that simple sadly though.

It's the shipping though. Shipping the odd few models from China as opposed to big standard orders through Panda. Plus a lot of these Chinese brands are literally run by kids using their parent's money. One brand owner I know is 15! They aren't exactly prepared for shipping internationally. Getting retailer contacts is easy.

I believe this was shipped to retailers on Taobao back in late December.

Pairs really well with the recent Gemini Star release in Hainan’s 2007-2012 livery using the same Panda mould.
