NG Models Lufthansa 747-8 D-ABYT / YM - 2nd version

Finally received my copies of NG's LH 748s, D-ABYT/YM (and YC)
As you know, the initital release of "retro" D-ABYT was sold out fast but also featured an overdose of errors. Way outside of what my "used to see LH" eyes could tolerate and so I had to cancel my order. After receiving info of a 2nd run I tried my luck and send feedback to NG.
To my biggest surprise, they did listen (to me or general I don't know) and corrected most of the stuff with this 2nd run.

So here's my copy of D-ABYT "V2".
The following corrections were done:
- silver mica added to belly/nacelles
- tail logo size and position
- blue color changed
- yellow color also is slightly lighter than on YM - but could be even more
- titles (matching the 1970's instead of 1990's)
- cockpit
Sadly they went all the way down the belly with the mica. But as it is a very subtle glazing mica, the issue barely catches the eye.
Super happy with this model! Well worth the long wait. They are still listening and caring, way to go NG!

The belly: a very subtle glazing mica. The real thing has the very lower belly grey (not mica) - barely vissible on this model and I wont flip mine around again.

Tail to tail with YM ("V2")
Me (and my RAL color fan) like how these colors turned out - as I said, the yellow on YT could have used a bit less red still.

The 2nd version of D-ABYM also received some corrections, namely
- tail logo size/position (thank you for listening NG!)
- cockpit
- silver leading edges added to stabs
So glad a great looking 747 with the name of my home joined my fleet

Seems like they also change the tail logo color on YM, which is good thing too. Great review!

Great review! I also ordered ABYT and can't wait to get it! One question: Has the cradle also changed with the nose gear hole and everything?

Btw. I guess this gives you a bit more hope in their -200's and -400's? 😁

Do you have any info on where I can get these 2nd run versions? Aside from just "look at photos and compare"

Many stores have not updated the item photos - for example, AvMgS hasn't and neither has ScModSt - but since the model is back in stock, rest assured they're Version 2

Would be my strong guess as well.
But they seem to be going fast. Got mine via ACB and the models disappeared the day they received them.

Alex, I can't believe you're more forgiving than I am. 😂 I would have ordered D-ABYT in a heartbeat to replace my Gemini Jets version but the inaccurate belly is a showstopper for me.

D-ABYM on the other hand looks excellent. And yet, as I have the slightly inferior first version, I'll stick to the new colours this time around.

This one really isn't an issue for me. Sure, they could have made it right.
But the difference grey vs. mica is as subtle on the model as it is on the real thing. In most cases you just don't see it on the real thing but only ever on LH's painting spec.
And it's only on the model's underside.

Thanks.
Will compare the cradle to my BOAC later.

There's hope in the artwork department - but classics are way more difficult to get right.
And the biggest "NG 747 problem" I see in the moulding department. For whatever reason they failed so far on this type. If they'd get their 747Classics up to par with their TriStar they sure would kill my wallet.🫣
