NG Models Her Art Here 2nd Production

Very happy about these two as I've been looking for them for a while. Also want to throw in my 2 cents to the great comments made by others already. Buying models in 400 scales as investments really isn't going to bring in much ROI because you will very likely run into situations 1) of "having a price but no sales" (low bid on eBay if selling as an auction, what I've noticed a lot, with the prominent example being BigBird 747s (nothing against them), which are said to have a high value but aren't selling in reality), 2) where the return cannot be realized as expected values (having to wait a long time before someone buys if selling as buy-it-now), or 3) re-release destroying value. Also the platform takes a cut so realistically it probably needs to be sold at least 120% of the original price (adjusted for inflation) just to break even. The amount of money you can make from these is very minimal and cannot justify the hustle around buying-listing-selling and customer service. Becoming a retailer is a better way if you really want to get into the business of selling models. Of course, there are other ways you can sell the model, but my point is made.

I collect for fun as well, not for investment. So in my case, it's a win-win situation for brands like NG to do re-releases. My wish list for NG will be

1) Qantas 789 in "Yam Dreaming"
2) Aeromexico 789 in "Quetzalcoatl"
3) Etihad 789 in "Man City"
4) Air New Zealand 789 in "All Black"
5) United 789 in "Evo Blue"
3) Icelandair 752 in "80th Anniversary"
4) Icelandair 752 in "Hekla Aurora"
5) Pam Am L-1011
6) TWA L-1011 in "Twin Stripes"

hopefully going to see them soon @@?

Ebay takes around 13% of the final sale value including shipping and sales tax.

I personally would love to see another tui 757 made but with a different reg this time. Possibly G-OOBP as we've already had G-OOBN or G-OOBA

The initial releases of these were somewhat furtive owing to alleged copyright issues, therefore I only managed to get the New York scheme and had to settle for the California on the Gemini Jets tooling. Maybe I'll rectify that scenario now.

News of a second batch for the Her Art Heres have been around for nearly three years now ever since they were initially released. I'd say it was to a point the majority of us had forgotten about their existence -- only until today where NG has appeared out of nowhere and posted these:

53199 United Airlines Boeing 757-200 "Her Art Here New York/New Jersey" N14102

53200 United Airlines Boeing 757-200 "Her Art Here California" N14106

Note that these are released under a new set of item numbers. Quite unusual for NG if I must say.

Anyways, this is a great chance for anyone who missed out on either or both of these back in 2020.
Indeed, mine just arrived yesterday... My first 757-200 by NG - what a beauty!

It may very well be ... I found it for a great price, new, from a private collector. Then I saw the rerelease announcement from NG. Still an awesome mould with an even better scheme!
I'd even say the first production is better in quality too. This month's batch NG struggled with the cockpit windows a little bit whereas the original one is more or less perfect.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rerelease of the Delta A321 (ceo). N129DN would be a great choice considering it's the final A320CEO family aircraft ever built.

Some other rereleases that would be nice:
  • Alaska 737-800, 737-900ER (2016 livery)
  • American 737-800 (Chrome livery)
  • ANA 787-9
  • Delta 737-800, 737-900ER
  • FedEx 757-200
  • Hawaiian A330-200
  • Mexicana 757-200
  • Singapore A350-900
  • United 757-200 (Saul Bass livery)

I'd go for all of these. I also need a Pratt & Whitney powered FedEx 757-200.

Exactly, the long-term value is diminished. I happen to see that as a good thing though, because it helps eliminate the inflated prices that we see in the second-hand market. I really try to buy only models that I like, so in theory, I plan to keep them forever when I get them. Hence the long-term value of a model is irrelevant to me. On the contrary, it has gotten in my way more than once. Yeah, it kind of feels good to get a rare model after a long hunt, but I think I still prefer the "re-release to meet the demand" approach.

The value of models still will go up though as the demand will eventually drop below a level that justifies mass production, but there will always be some demand left in the form of people that will pay whatever it takes to get the model. I think is a more healthy approach than say, the Aeroclassics way, which is to force everything they make to be perceived as rare.
I like this perspective. Just like you I don't really sell models. In fact I have only ever traded one model, and never sold any. So by that perspective reproduction of models is only a good thing, particularly for those who do not sell models at all.
