Cockpit printing looks awfully high for the China Southern.
I feel the same way with Japan and the US. Take the JAL A350 for this set by example, one they’ve released on numerous occasionsThe question is "why did NG focus on the same airlines, same liveries, the same countries of the world?" I imagine that an important part of collectors (like me) stopped to buy NGModels airplanes simply because the product offered is not interesting for their wishes and their collections and fleets.
Not complaining, of course, just a consideration with a bit of sadness because NGModels are simply perfect and European airlines and liveries are needed and wanted.
For me it certainly is about diversity, not just what I personally want. Also, based on what you’re saying, should we call out people who complain about how Gemini Jets does too many American releases too? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Most of the people here won’t even buy their stuff anyway so it’s kinda moot to complain about their release choicesLet’s face it, 90% of the folks complaining about diversity don’t actually care about diversity. They’re angry because the releases they want are slowing down, and are using diversity as a guise to not sound biased. None of you gave a hoot 3 years ago when “other region” collectors here were complaining… because NG was pumping out Ns by the dozen.
Help them succeed in the asian domestic market ?All of the complaining is honestly just trying to help NG from shooting themselves in the foot. We're trying to help them succeed
Sure, same logic. And yes, I’ve said these things in the past as well. Not anymore though (or at least not as much). As you go deeper into the stages of disappointment, you realize that releases simply don’t matter. The end product will be atrocious anyway, so they might as well not have been released!should we call out people who complain about how Gemini Jets does too many American releases too? You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
I’m not a very picky collector, so I don’t really care if the product is weak, especially if there are, or likely to be, no other alternatives. Like I’ve said before, I find the hobby to be more enjoyable when taking that approachThe end product will be atrocious anyway, so they might as well not have been released!
True, I envy that mindset. Unfortunately it’s not something one can just change…I find the hobby to be more enjoyable when taking that approach![]()
I don’t disagree with this, but like I said you can’t invoke a double standard. People back up NG’s making Chinese aircraft constantly, yet when GJ does the same thing for the US they get bashed six ways to Sunday? I don’t see any difference between those two scenarios — they’re producing what makes money. It’s frustrating on the former for sure as demonstrated in this thread, not just for US collectors but for many others globally.Let’s just face it. Clearly NG Models has not released solely Asian models for no reason. They are a business, and obviously Asian models sell well. If there are so many people complaining about the selection and refusing to buy from NG, why aren’t they out of business. There is clearly a huge demand domestically in China for Chinese models. You can’t blame them for choosing to produce what sells well.
That’s also taking in account the fact that if GJ made a bunch of Chinese releases, they won’t sell. (2018 Chinese releases still go for under 30 USD regularly). However, if NG made more US releases, they would make a ton more money, due to the demand. This goes for so many other regions too.I don’t disagree with this, but like I said you can’t invoke a double standard. I’m not saying you’re a part of that group, but it is a perspective I’ve seen pop up often here.
I didn’t vote in this election so I didn’t vote for this outcomeI would also once again for the millionth time point out that 'you get what you voted for'
I agree on it being very mature, but calling it “boring” is quite subjective. Beyond just the 8 or 9 current airlines, you could have tons of the defunct small commuter airlines, local service carriers, and older representation of the trunk airlines. Granted that doesn’t cater to a wider audience, but the point I’m making is there’s a lot more to be done in this market than the current operators. And with 3D printing taking off the way it is, there’s a good chance we could see options not thought possible with diecast come to life, be it from a manufacturer like 3D Design Deck or someone’s custom model making. The US is a mature / boring aviation market.
I’ve been pretty happy with Gemini’s output lately, especially their latest release. But there’s always that chase for new stuff that’s going on as a collector. Some of the newer collectors want a rerelease of a popular subject, while others like myself want something new to the table. For collectors who want the highest quality option, GJ is not it — that’s why you see a lot of American collectors upset at the NG situation. I’m not asking for them to shift back overseas, as even just a couple really good subjects they’ve never done before (Frontier NEOs and Allegiant are really good examples!) every couple of months would make us happy. I don’t think that’s an unrealistic expectation.Frankly, if you're American you're lucky you're getting as much US material as you are, NG are still more diverse than GJ AND at this point I'd be surprised if they ever shifted back towards the US again.
Ya gotta vote man!I didn’t vote in this election so I didn’t vote for this outcometalk to the 156 million Americans that turned out for the election.
Agree 100% subjective - I think the US market is boring - nowadaysI agree on it being very mature, but calling it “boring” is quite subjective.
100% agree here too. It wasn't boring - it has just become boring since about 2010. I'd love to see more older stuff too, but sadly 99% of everything made is now stuff.Beyond just the 8 or 9 current airlines, you could have tons of the defunct small commuter airlines, local service carriers, and older representation of the trunk airlines.
A lot of 'classic' Chinese stuff has now been made and NG have actually been going hard on older Chinese releases in the past 2 years, but mainly for the majors (CA, MU, CZ, HU) and Xiamen as you say. Several of the smaller brands are covering more unusual airlines off nicely in recent months - CDW, C Models, Z2, Geministar. NG does seem to ignore smaller airlines though - things like Chengdu A320, Shenzhen old colours 737s etc don't get a look in from NGI apply the same to the China market too — I’m sure there’s a lot of options over there, that NG hasn’t tackled yet, that collectors would love to see. I wouldn’t be as upset with them if they were diversifying beyond what seems like the same airlines they tend to do over there — Xiamen being the biggest one (I understand there’s a licensing deal they have with them).
100% agree. I'm not supportive of the current NG policy myself. There's definitely plenty of models they could make - Avelo 737s etc. Not things I'd buy but definitely worth making.I’ve been pretty happy with Gemini’s output lately, especially their latest release. I Personally Don’t think that the US is a boring market. There are a lot of cool planes flying here (757’s, 767 as two examples) that don’t see service in many other places. I personally grew up only seeing little regional jets and that taught me to see the good in US mainlines and regional aircraft. A lot of other collectors are like me in that way, especially people who are a tad younger and lived near a smaller airport. I still think the modern US market isn’t very boring. Though I do miss the 2010s and 2000’s US carriers like AirTran and others, i enjoy the modern too.Wow I hadn't looked at this thread but it seems oddly familiar![]()

Lots of valid points - but also some missing wood for trees bits too.
RELEASE DIVERSITY
NG did make 37 US models in 2025 - a year when they were slammed by US political and economic decisions. They just made 139 Chinese ones too. They also made 125 other nation models. So that's 12% of NG releases in 2025 which were US, despite the economics, and 46% Chinese.
Now GJ made 85 models in the year and 47 were American - so 55% American and only 1 model from China. It's a little different for Gemini because GJ are a US brand and have to make US models. NG being Chinese doesn't have to.
So now tell me which brand was making a better diversity of models in 2025 based off of those stats? It wasn't GJ.
ECONOMICS
I would also once again for the millionth time point out that 'you get what you voted for'. This situation exists because:
That impacts all markets outside of China so it sucks that everyone else is tarred by the same brush but that is the way it is.
- Tariffs and the threat of tariffs
- Strong domestic Chinese consumption
- Minimising sales risk and maximising easy profit
REAL MARKET DIVERSITY
The US is a mature / boring aviation market. Consolidation means it has basically 4 massive airlines (over 800 aircraft), 2 big ones (over 200 aircraft) and about 3 decent sized ones (over 100 aircraft). That's basically it (ignoring regionals). The number of new liveries is small and the number of new aircraft types being introduced is small.
China has 3 massive airlines (over 500 aircraft), 4 big ones (over 150), 7 decent sized ones (75-150) and about 27 other airlines operating mainline passenger jets. Many of these fly both widebodies and narrowbodies. Almost all have multiple special schemes - some have crazy numbers of them. There are a lot more new aircraft being added than in the US.
Basically there are probably more than three times as many possibilities for modern Chinese models than there are for US ones and more being added every month. The same goes for Europe but not quite as bad.
I'm not saying I like it - I don't especially, but these are the 3 main reasons why NG is making all this China stuff. Frankly, if you're American you're lucky you're getting as much US material as you are, NG are still more diverse than GJ AND at this point I'd be surprised if they ever shifted back towards the US again.
The irony is NG's Chinese release diversity is bad - they could, and arguably should, be making a lot more Chinese releases.
The real crime isn't China:US it is modern:classic and the poor usage of their mould catalogue.
