I have never seen anything that hints to NG having a 747-300 and yet they're "preparing" one for production.
Well they had a 747-200 and they have a 747-400 - ha ha ha. That might send you into meltdown if they merged the two
Seriously, it was fairly obvious they'd go for a series 300 but hopefully that model is some way down the track. There is no suggestion they have a 727 and surely the point of this is the models are made in a relatively short time.
Sure this 701 would have just been a fun experiment. I'd never expect NG to do such mould of course.
Generally I don't consider these CRP requests to be representative. I mean, the number of total votes for some subjects isn't much higher then the number of MAF members signaling their vote. So these wishes could well be misleading in both directions due to the very low number of votes.
I'm curious to know how many customers at all bother to scratch their cards and enter their codes. Only NG would know, but then they still don't know whether those few votes were independent or triggered by some forum crowd for example.
The votes are low I agree, but NG appear to be taking it seriously. Whether they should is a good question. They would have been much better off in my opinion putting some sensible parameters around the whole thing to guide it because there are some mental wishes in there getting quite a few votes (F100, A380s, zero-G A300s etc) and the duplicate wishes have seemingly really stuffed the chances for those models. They could have said for example they'd do the wish picking by aircraft type, which would perhaps stimulate and target voting because the way the votes have been given out does look like a potential issue.
There are so many wishes now that the votes are thinly spread. There are well over 100 models with 11 - 25ish votes but few getting much higher. Then there are lots with 8-9. That isn't ideal for deciding what to make (especially if the models need near 30 to get made) and I agree the whole thing could be misleading, especially if people are voting for models they have no intention to buy.
Yeah it has been, but I still think they'd have been better off just asking me and using my wishlists sensibly - arrogant I know, but for the classic types this isn't rocket science. Presumably NG do want to make some of them or why make the moulds at all! As always the elephant in the room is what is the MOQ? If it is 500, like with Phoenix, then that is a problem for a lot of these wishes. If it is a more sensible level, or they can combine similar variants and split production (a nuance also lost with this voting method), then it isn't.
But I find it a bit annoying that there are so many votes for 747s yet NG has to deliver an acceptable mould for these - their "lite" effort sure wasn't. I'd love to vote for all of these, but not given NG's fail record when it comes to 747s.
I agree here. I'm not voting for 747s for the same reason and frankly there are a lot more Tristars and MD-80s that are needed (in that they don't exist at all) than 747s. In a sense every vote for a model is a vote against another too. It isn't much good if every wish gets 10+ votes but not over 20.
