*NEW* 8 GEMINIJETS MODEL UNBOXING! | Massive Unboxing #66

Couple of nice Aussie narrowbodies there. The Alliance Fokker is a very common sight throughout the majority of the country, doing mostly mining charters in Western Australia and Queensland, and the odd flights on behalf of Virgin Australia.

Title says "8 Geminijets unboxing" but, in the end, only half of them were actually Gemini. Is the keyword "Gemini" that popular? 🧐

Anyways... My favorite one is, by far, the American MD-11. What a stunning model. Amazing mould, wonderful printing, can't go wrong with the classic AA livery! The Alliance Fokker 100 is also a great model. I wish GJ/JC would release more F100s. So many cool liveries awaiting their turn.

I feel that Gemini Jets is a easy to understand generalization to describe these models aircraft, similar to how Kleenex or Hoover is used in place of a tissue paper or a vacuum cleaner.

Meh, I'll have to disagree. I believe "8 model airplanes unboxing" would have similar or even greater viewing results when compared to "8 Gemini Jets unboxing"

I understand key words for clicks but I think it’s a deserves to imply the whole hobby encompasses Gemini Jets even when they’re not the premier brand in 1:400 in terms of quality right now.

For casuals, GJ is synonymous with model aircraft. Other major brands don’t have the history and name value, while the new Chinese ones are irrelevant internationally.

As a kid, I remember seeing GJ ads all over Airways magazine and thinking they were the only ones who made “quality” (i.e. better than Hogan snapfits) models. Only found out about Phoenix, JC, Inflight etc. once I really started digging.

I do agree with you about the brand recognition but bigger is not always better and that certainly holds true in reality. I wish I had been educated sooner on higher quality brands that were more niche and wish I had access to information that allowed me to make more informed decisions beyond the facade of Gemini Jets.

Tbh I don’t trust the good-brand-bad-brand distinction as much as I used to, the “good” ones dropped some absolute stinkers this year. It’s more like bad to mid for the most part, with some rare gems 🙃

For the sake of search engine optimization (SEO) it makes sense, due to the fact that GJ has a wider casual appeal as mentioned previously.

Maybe if the audience is someone who doesn't know anything about model aircraft, but this just comes across as uninformed and pandering for views.
I don’t see how Connor is pandering for views here — he’s pretty fair with his assessment on each model in these unboxings.

This is akin to putting incorrect brand names in eBay listings to garner clicks. I understand the argument for it but it feels somewhat dishonest and is likely to damage people's opinions as much as aid the video content being viewed more.

Youtube has hashtags which do the same kind of thing for SEO and I note Connor uses them, although you don't. They are a better option in my opinion. I prefer accurate titles rather than tricking people into viewing my content. Lastly of course I do think content makers have some level of responsibility towards their audience. Not saying you guys don't think that way but the titles are clickbaity.

By the logic you are using I should prefix every piece of content I produce with 'Gemini Jets'

There's nothing wrong in using "Gemini Jets" in the title, but saying "unboxing 8 Gemini Jets" is wrong when clearly not all 8 are Geminis, that's my point! 😅 The title could easily be something like:

"8 model airplanes unboxing! Gemini Jets, NG and more!"
This wouldn't be misleading and would still mention GJ as a keyword

I doubt having a slightly incorrect title in a model unboxing video will result in long-term consequences. I could understand if it’s a more broader video (e.g. talking about another brand and no involvement with GJ) but on here I think it’s fine as is. It might be annoying that not every model is a Gemini Jet, but Connor has become a more diverse collector. He did a massive unboxing on some snap-fit models a little while back as well. Does it make sense to have Gemini Jets in the title of that video? Personally I don’t think so either, but I don’t have a serious problem with it.

I’ve not looked into the effectiveness of hashtags compared to having the term straight up in the title, but on initial glance I don’t think it makes much of a difference in terms of how many clicks or views you’ll get. I do use tags in my videos and most of the tags have Gemini Jets in them, regardless of what I upload, however I’ve noted YT says that it doesn’t have much of an effect on a video’s performance. At the end of the day I don’t do YouTube for the sake of numbers or money (my channel isn’t monetized anyway), so if a video doesn’t perform well, I won’t be losing sleep over it.

I’m not here to say people should put that term in every video title involving model airplanes — it’s just how Connor runs his ship.

To be very honest, I love Conner's videos, especially the unboxing ones. BUT I need to point out that a few times I skipped them due to the GeminiJets title in it since I have very little interest whatsoever in GJ unboxing :ROFLMAO:. It is only when I zoom in on thumbnail closely I found there are stuff from PH and NG and then I watch it.

Happened a few times already, and it felt very strange each time, and personally I don't think GeminietJets helped at all (maybe it is for others? IDK). Only GJ unboxing I'd watch are those 1:200 scales...
