My very first 1:400 model

It sure is. That is a really neat model!
Here she is…the gear is too short but it’s a solid model for the time, I’ve always rated Herpa’s packaging as one of the best with these foam blocks, 2 simple halves offering excellent protection against any rubbing or contact friction. I also love their outer packaging, with legit airline logos and a professional, clean identity. Solid quality, the German way!

Very nice! A beautiful livery on a majestic aircraft. I wasn't even aware Herpa had a Tristar mould, how is it?

For a mould dating back to the early 2000s, it's not bad. I only have this, the Dash 500 version which does have the correct wingbox fairing and longer wingspan for the type, with slotted wings rather than cradle mounted, which at the time put this ahead of others. The gear is too short, and there are other details generally that are no match for today's NG version, but it's still a solid model in it's own right.

Of course NG beats it, but from what you have said and some pictures I have seen it looks decent for its time at least.

Lufthansa B747-430 (1:400) D-ABVF from Dragon Wings 2000.

Delivered to Lufthansa in July 1990. Scrapped in 2014.

This is my very first model bought in Hong Kong Airport 2000 on my way back home. The rest is history.

What was your first model?

Steinar

My first model was one of those little daron planes, it was a British Airways A380, in terms of 1/400, it was an Ariana Afghan Airline Boeing 727-200 from Gemini Jets
