Mould Review - Hawker Siddeley HS.748

The HS.748 is one of the DC-3 replacement types that found a real niche for itself in more rugged environments. It sold surprisingly well and even in 400 scale, where it is one of the smallest types realised, it has had two moulds made for it with 36 releases in total. There can't be that many types that haven't received a mould review at the website now, but here's one for the 'Budgie':

I've got 15 HS.748s in my collection now. How many have you got in yours?

I don't have any HS-748s in my collection. The only one I would be interested in is Aeropostal, preferably in the last livery. Unfortunately, I don't think Venezuelan proliners, nor Aeropostal, are in Aeroclassic's radar.

It is a good-looking airplane, looks like a shrunken YS-11. In Venezuela, it was commonly referred to as the "Avro."

I got a few for customs. Mostly RAAF jc wings models.

Particularly thinking of making this one. @LeoMuse747 I'd also love to get the Varig model. I've put off making Varig customs. That blue nose at that scale is intimidating. Looks great though.

Most likely will make that Aeropostal and Copa.

Also been trying to get the Bahamasair Avro by GJ.

In Venezuela they were simply referred to as Avro (as if that was the type itself), long after the Hawker-Siddeley acquisition.
Yep - just like 'Vespa', or 'Jeep' - the aircraft became culturally integrated and significant due to its robustness & versatility, and ability to fly to any kind of airport especially HnH - connecting hitherto remote areas - same here in India - ICs 'Avro' were legendary - and the IAF still uses it I think

AC missed an opportunity when they did the Air North budgie, IIRC the colour scheme was essentially a minor modification of the 1990s Mount Cook Airlines colours. It would have been an easy extra release for NZ. Fortunately they did the 1970's blue tail colours which is a 'flown on' for me but it would have been nice to get both. Perhaps one day, I also remain hopeful that we'll see an Air Pacific example too.
