Model teaser from HX model, partially physical.

It's a shame Panda hasn't used their MD-11 mould more; I was looking forward to a KLM, Swissair and Aer Lingus. It looks like HX is picking up the slack with their KLM release.

What an exciting pipeline they’ve got coming.
If the BA Negus is the ‘British’ titles I’ll be grabbing multiple for my diorama.
Not to mention that Cathay cargo will be a cracking addition.

I would love an HX MD-11. I saw they released a China airline, but havent seen anything else. Have I missed more?

Check the previous pages of this thread 😜 Lufthansa Cargo (in at least 4 different liveries), KLM, Thai, McDonnell Douglas house colors, China Eastern, etc etc. regular, interactive and flaps down versions. All in the pipeline

I have the China Airlines and China Eastern models and they’re absolutely cracking! The detail is incredible and imo easily surpasses every other manufacturer. I’m looking forward to more MD-11 releases and this will be the only manufacturer I buy from going fwd.

I'm waiting on my China Airlines Jimmy livery. Looking forward to it after al the nice words here about HX models. One of the last orders I've made from a store outside Europe with the new Belgian gouvernement agreement about paying extra for packages outside of Europe that enters Belgium.

If they ever make a Delta MD-11 ''deltaflot - waving flag "colours, That will convince me of paying the extra fee 😅

Not my pictures, the first one is from Richard Stretton on the MADb website. This shows the Panda mould, which is excellent. In the first photo (Panda), I have circled three areas that I feel immediately differentiate the Panda vs HX tooling. The second shows the HX tooling. The HX detailing on the engines, specifically the hot sections, is more accurate with the hot section being a darker metallic gray. The engine logo on the HX is also more clear, and the subtle detail of the two vertical panel lines on the cowling are a nice touch.

The detailing around the HX #2 engine is better at the intake as well as hot section. Additionally, I think that the #2 engine on the HX model is a little beefier, which I feel is more representative as well. I also feel that the HX engine pylons cleaner/crisper.

Where I do think Panda got it better, is the shape of the winglet. The real winglet has a slight curve downward on the top, but HX seemed to have modelled the winglet on being inflight, with the winglet sloping up. This is exactly how JC modelled the winglet as well for their 1:200 version, so this is what leads me to believe this a scaled down clone.

One more thing that is not so obvious from these pictures, is the landing gear. I do think that Panda's landing gear struts are slightly better, but HX does have more detailing with the wheel hubs.

Finally, I will also add that I do think Panda got the shape of the cockpit windows a little better, but they are pretty close.

All in all, when displayed, these two models fare very well against each other. I don't think anyone can go wrong with either.
