It could be a long term plan; I’m also quite sure they are going to release every single AirChina 747 based on what I already know

I mean the amount of work/development to electroplate the engines and pylons probably justifies it

From afar, and from this photo, the electroplated JT9D engines look a little bright, perhaps too bright even for a brand-new delivered Pan Am 747. Seems gimmicky, and knowing how grungy Pan Am's 747s often looked in service, might be a little of a distraction. A light coat of semi-matte clear coat (like Dragon Wings did decades ago on their "Metal Magic" models did) might help tone down the brightness, or even a light buff on a polishing wheel might give it that "brushed" metal look. But any innovation is welcome and I'm sure HX/Patriot/any sub-brands will keep working to improve the look of the 747s.

Some of the shiniest on record are these photos. More of a natural, polished aluminum finish than a mirror-like shine. Let's see if HX will modify the finish in future releases.
