LegacyJets x FinalApproachCollectibles Future Release

Guys… reading all of this has honestly been disheartening. This hobby has always been a place of passion, nostalgia, and connection, not division. This isn’t what brought any of us into aviation, and it’s certainly not what keeps us here.

From day one, our mission has been simple:
Bring something positive, exciting, and fresh to this community.
No politics. No drama. Just beautiful models made by people who genuinely love aviation as much as you do.
We pour our hearts into these releases. Every detail, every color, every line, we aim to build models that we, as professional pilots, would proudly put on our own shelves. This hobby deserves that level of respect and care.

So let’s take a breath, step back, and enjoy this moment together.
New models. New energy. A chance to make the hobby better than we found it.
Thank you to everyone who supports with passion, kindness, and love for aviation.
We see you, we appreciate you, and we’re building this journey with you, not against you.
With sincere love,
LJ
Agreed 👍 Models not arguments is what this community should be about

Now this is funny…
Half of you are busy whining about legacy's pricing
and then I see this thread and see what you’re all happily dropping money on.
The irony could taxi its own airplane

My 2 cents:

I paid 47$ for that United E175…and I should have returned it. It’s awful. It doesn’t look like the real thing and it’ll probably be a collection clog in a few years. I probably won’t buy many RJs from Gemini until they can prove to make these with quality. i’m dead serious there and it’s a bummer.

now…

FAC has stated this will be a brand new mould, highest quality the scale has ever seen for RJs. Unfortunately that also means mostly nothing until we can see mould photos so I won’t comment on that too much yet but there’s high praise coming from that camp and we should take their word (even with a grain of salt) till proven otherwise.

IF it truly has little to no flaws, is a high quality model that comes in a well done box with a good stand and all, i’ll call 55$ for a “one off” exclusive fine. I’d rather pay 55$ to get a good model than roll the dice for a sh*t piece of metal that i’ll never want to get out of the box for 6$ cheaper.

This isn’t JC or GJ pumping out a ton of a singular model either with a ton of financial backing. V1:400 just announced models that will gently higher than usual counterparts and they were hit with a ton of praise so far?? I don’t understand how the two scenarios differ more than just a little bit (smaller production runs, smaller “startup” companies, etc)

idk, we all need to chill before we actually see the damn things imo… any bickering is over hypotheticals so far.

as for the airline choices, super cool and very welcome all around. I truly hope these things are cool and near to fully perfect. 55$ is steep but it’s not a deal breaker for a theoretical “best RJ the scale has ever seen”.

Preach.

I'm excited about these! While they're higher in price, there are options for everybody in 1:400 - whether you want a better price with GJ or more detail with Legacy, the options are there! Love to see the options expanding! Let's go! Ready to get these!

What's done is done, but let's keep this from getting personal, please. This is simply model aircraft collecting at the end of the day.
That’s what im sayingggg.

Might get the Avelo if the pics look good

I've a very different view on prices it seems.
If someone really delivers that "meticolously researched,... 100% accurate" model I'd well be prepared to pay those 20-30% extra - or more pending on subject - and would be in full support for such venture.
However LegacyJets has yet to show any prove whether all the self-laudation holds any truth. I wish them all the best but am full of doubts to be honest.

Yeah all this is pretty simple:

If they turn out nice - they’re worth $55 (to me at least)
If they turn out on par with Gemini - they’re probably not.

Time will tell, everyone hold your horses and go buy something else in the mean time.

Correct,

We have a predominantly younger crowd here at MAF, so resistance to higher prices is normal and expected.

I myself got priced out of the hobby once before. It was not until my third year at an airline that I felt confident enough (financially) to get back in the hobby full-time. With age, collectors stop looking at the price tag and start looking at the actual product. I see this as a collector myself and as a retailer. Make something good, and people with the means will buy it at a premium; make something bad, and you can't even give it away.

As many others have said, it is imperative to see the final product.

There are reservations about JC Wings' influence on HX/SQ. Especially since we are talking about 737s and ERJs.

And before anyone tells me that "they have nothing to do with each other," I will tell you to please stop. Don't insult us. The dispute between JC Wings and DPM was well documented, and most of DPM's output still has JC Wings written all over it. Anyone who says otherwise is full of bovine feces, plain and simple.

I think it actually hurts DPM and Legacy Jets to insist otherwise, as it makes them lose credibility. As I said, most collectors in the forums are well aware of what happened and can easily see through any statements against it. Kindly cut it out once and for all.

Instead, the narrative could be changed to something like: Yes, once upon a time, DPM and JC Wings were partners, but that changed recently, and DPM is on its way to becoming more innovative or what have you.

Or better yet, don't even bring up the topic anymore.

Two important key points:

1) Not all DPM products are enhanced versions of JC Wings products. Case in point, the HX 747s. So there is a good chance the new HX ERJs, 737s, and A320s could indeed be brand new, highly improved molds. Again, we need photos yesterday.

2) It is true that HX 747s were reasonably priced, but I think there is a market for premium pricing if the product is good enough.

Time will tell.

Yes, that was me 10 years ago. I actually stopped collecting almost completely. Could not justify the expense. With time, your perception about the value of things changes.

-----

Just to clarify.

I support LegacyJets' initiative 100%, and I am looking forward to working with them. I actually wish the United ERJ-175 were not exclusive to FAC, as I sure have a market for those in Houston.

I also have faith in HX's innovation, as they proved their capability with the 747s.

But, hey, I am also a collector, and I know exactly where the reservations about the final product come from... I think it is important to understand this for all the parties involved.

And I don't want to go too far off topic here, but since the topic is fresh and alive, I thought I'd throw this out there: One of my favorite arguments of DPM's advocates was the "hey, they are not JC molds, look, the standhole is different."

Guys, changing the shape of a standhole on a mold is the easiest thing to do.

This is what I am saying, collectors in the forums can see through that easily. Don't try to fool them.

There is no need to push so hard against the current. Most of us do not care about background drama, as long as the final product is satisfactory.

The mold doesn’t matter to me. I get the model if I really need it for a project, or if it’s been a model that is important to me. I’m looking forward to the American E175!

I concur with this sentiment, but even if they turn out nice, I'm likely to purchase less of their regional jet releases than I would if they were under $50.
