KPIT Spotting

Dark and a bit blurry but this Qantas 787-9 diverted here a few weeks ago, originally bound for JFK. It sat at the international terminal overnight and was scheduled to leave for New York at 4:30. I hung around ALL DAY for it to just in time leave before the sun finally dipped below the horizon (near 8pm). I’m happy to have grabbed the first ever Qantas plane to land in Pittsburgh.

An ex-United Atlas Air 747-400 arriving into PIT to pickup the Seattle Seahawks after a dominant win over the Steelers a week or two ago.

The next round of photos will be from a short trip I made to philly this past weekend. A few new angles from inside the terminal plus more. Still going through those photos so bear with me :)

Enjoy!
Charter season has begun to heat up (not for us in ATL)! We've gotten Tampa on a standard A332 charter, and the Commies are in town this week for the first UA charter of the season. Did you head out to see the Aer Lingus charter for the Steelers?

Nice pics! Love the Atlas Jumbo! 😍 also very nice to see you got the Qantas 787 aswell.

I was outside doing yard work when it landed and I was bummed thinking it had left or was leaving shortly after. The next day I was talking to a friend and he said it was still here and I 😳 and immediately went out the door. Safe to say I could have waited a little while longer lol.

That Qantas pic is stunning!

Thanks! I wish it turned out better but im glad its my own and I got to see it with my own two eyes. Great future memory there.

I did not. Theres actually the second one on the ground right now. I probably should go out and grab it but life has been a bit crazy with some family stuff so Im choosing to hang back and get the house and my life straightened out instead. I was actually scheduled to fly back to PHL today and I probably could have seen it land from inside the terminal. A bummer for sure but there will always be other fun things in the future.

Something exciting happened at Pittsburgh’s airport in the last week. Our new landslide terminal opened up this past Tuesday and that means the new parking garage opens up to the public finally! I had off work on that day and decided to get up early and head out to the airport to check out the new spot and boy is it a great view. From atop the garage you can see nearly a full length view of our northern runway (28R/10L) as well as the taxiways surrounding plus a handful of gate areas that are decently visible. If this garage was free I would be up there basically daily! Anyways here are some photos i’ve taken on Tuesday during opening and also today on my second visit during the afternoon/evening.

A new favorite of mine, featuring the sunrise onto the airport the morning of the opening. The building on the left is I think the Admiarals club on the center of the “X” terminal, to the right is the brand new landslide structure starting to glow.

This photo is blurry but it shows the morning action on the deicing pad as well as the views of Concourse A where Southwest, Breeze, and Allegiant park their planes. I wish it was a clearer photo as this would be another top favorite of mine.

First C17 from the garage! I think I am the first person to ever photograph one from the garage as I was up there alone all Tuesday🤣

Double Trouble!

Skittles paid a visit that morning too!

Only sharing this one as I flew this frame a few years back from Allentown - DTW. Wasn’t a bad ride!

One of the many busses that take passengers to and from the old parking lots and the new terminal. It really wouldn’t be the farthest walk but it’s not really built to comfortably walk so busses it is!

Also slightly blurry but a fun one. A breeze pushes back while a PSA CRJ700 taxis to the gate after arrival from PHL. A private jet based here taxis to the runway for departure while the United E175 behind it sits in the penalty box till LGA opened up. It’s fun to catch multiple planes in one shot. Hopefully more will come with better lighting!

Frontier A320 on arrival from Denver. these photos show the full capability of this location as runway, taxiway, and ramp shots of the same aircraft are all possible! Frontier, Delta and some Southwest flights taking the nearby taxiway offering the most flexibility on shots and angles.

These two breeze flights arrived b2b. Unfortunately the terminal was shaded and the shot would have looked bad to try and get the both together.

The only Delta A220 we get! Our once daily SLC flight. Great lookin plane.
