Kalumin International 1:400 model Airport

Fantastic! It really is, I know what that means from my own design projects. It can drive you crazy at times but it makes so much difference to the end result 👏👍
Absolutely! I abhor the generic airports currently out there. Much prefer the design and modeling process. Given the quality of today's moulds the airport displays should warrant the same consideration. I have adapted my airport diorama on suspended shelves, which provides a great vantage point that places your eyes close to the models. Rather than the standard airport displays we see on tables or wooden planks. Obviously space was an issue and this was my solution. The idea was to display the models in various scenes at an actual airport, runway, taxiway and stands at angles flattering to each aircraft. So none of my gates are the same, and the shelves present design challenges to the layout, which as you note - is also the fun part. Abraços, S

That's fantastic - and completely agree, which is why I'm busy designing my own authentic models for a retro LHR layout. The whole process of conceiving, designing and building takes time but it's so worth it for the end result. I love the creativity of it! You've come up with some great modelling solutions to meet your needs, and they do look very effective :)

Hey Guys,

Been some time since I've posted some updates to the airport, now Kalumin International Airport. Showcasing the international gates in this release. Enjoy these snippets of the action.

Wow, it has been some time since I have updated this thread. Thanks for the nudge @LeoMuse747

A move to a new crib by the beach will do that. As such Kalumin International has gone through major changes. I had to decomission the old airport and move everything. It wasn't anything like closing down Kai Tak and moving to Chep Lap Kok, but it sure did feel like that.

Phase One is mostly complete, with phase two nearing completion as I await parts from China.

Here are some photos of phase 1 of the diorama: Air Canada's International Terminal wing featuring 6 gates and three remote stands.

Phase 2 is double the size and features the International gates. More will follow...

Hope you enjoy the results as much as I had producing them.

Abraço, S

Truly lovely work, Sithan! Did you find these landscaping items (trees, bushes, etc) here in Brazil or did you buy from abroad
Evergreen trees and artificial moss were purchased from China. Everything was then painted and customized to scale.

Brazil, sadly lacks in hobby shops that cater to smale scale modeling. Not like back home, but the Chinese have taken it to another level - there are a plethora. Aliexpress ajudou!
